  1. 2 things off the top...Pulmonary embolism, do not delay transport, we can't do anything in the field. Other may be AAA (abdominal aortic anyeurism), and again EMS can do nothing for this in the field...get going, not worth waiting to find out. Both can be deadly and need specific tests that printing a strip in the field will not assist in. However, as common practice, if ALS is on the field, it is their job and they should at least get bloods and a valid line going. If BLS is on the field, no stay and play, get up and go to the closest receiving center. 3 hours in already! Now, I read this same scenario to my wife (ER nurse, St. John's Riverside Hospital): She says rule out PE, AAA, and MI due to the fact that diabetics tend to have atypical type symptoms during an MI. She says she hopes that someone put the patient on a monitor and started a line. Bloods they can do themselves, but obviously this patient needed ALS care, not BLS, however no one should wait on scene for ALS to arrive!
  2. Great question, cause I have oh, about 500,000,000 of them and I hope I don't have to pay taxes on them!
  3. We sometimes get em on jobs on the highways or accidents on the streets along the borders, never had them on a structure fire job that I can recall...usually it is just that both departments get calls for the same "area" cause people really don't know where they are! In other words, they are not dual dispatched.
  4. Kind of funny, but it looks like something matchbox or hot wheels would come up with...
  5. I disagree, I think that the protect part of protect and serve includes innocent motorists that can be affected by the pursuit. If a speeder gets away and they are able to get a plate number or not, speeding is no reason to kill others not involved cause someone's ego gets the best of them. Let the guy go, he will get caught eventually!
  6. Great points, the post shuffle did suck, especially in the middle of the night, most of us just found a nice place "in between" and left it at that! But during the day, it kind of made sense. We will see what the future holds!
  7. 5 in the last 2 years, and PG county ain't got no crime...right! I mean, if it is blatantly ridiculous, that is one thing, in this case, I agree to the charge. I would like to know what the other 4 were for.
  8. Looks like Asst. Chief Smith had this job, he is great to work for and with! Very calm and always in control!
  9. That is definitely New Ro on Riverdale then...E21 and TL11 per the incident alert thread posted! MVFD probably went to Station 13, but I am not sure.
  10. Probably had to get to a larger water main hydrant. In fire control we have hydrant maps, and the water department can also remind us where the larger mains may hit. As for the 1 and 1 on Riv/Prospect, I would venture a guess that it is New Rochelle FD units coming back to Station 1 from another call with their guide. I am currently on vacation but will check when I get back to give more specifics from 4/17/2004, 97 Elm St and such. As well, it was definitely a weekend, checked out the map of the Cacace center, can tell who was working...that is also kind of cool! Now I have to check the GIS viewer also, because I think this is the map they used for that also! Check out the traffic control points the YPD set up. To the north at Nepperhan/Ashburton (SB), to the east at Yonkers/Oak and Yonkers/Walnut (WB), and to the south is Nepperhan/Waverly St. (NB/EB). Another YPD cruiser is set up at the exit from 289 Nepperhan Av onto Nep from Walsh and War Memorial field, and another at Nep/Columbus near the U-turn where Yonkers Av/Nepperhan Av come together. And another one to the west at Palisade/Elm/New School Sts. Kind of sheds light on that thread that was going about the reporter crossing the line! We see here how big perimeters can really get just because of necessity for traffic control! The ladder set up in the rear of the building is in the driveway adjacent to the YPD property at 40 Columbus Pl. It also seems like one of those rare occasions that the 2 tower ladders were first due back to back. There are no actual addresses in this way, but if other co's are out, it does occur.
  11. Low voltage run along the ladder...like under floor heat mats for bathrooms/kitchens, would be pricy though, and add weight to the stick!
  12. Thanks for the info, I will have to teach my daughter what this means...As for tonight, I am glad to be on VACATION! It sure does look like a full moon out there!
  13. Hot ride, someone impound it and let me know where it is stored...oh yeah, it is in my garage! It is not really in my garage, btw...don't be peeking!
  14. Well said, also, New Rochelle is a "CITY" and gets more work than most smaller sized areas. Aluminum body may not be able to take the actual jobs over the years as well as the stainless steel!

  16. 1 that I have used...think about it...D as in Richard...yes, on a taped radio system, and more than once...guess I got lucky a few times...but pay attention and don't keep asking for the apt # 3-4 times!!!!!!!!
  17. Happy Birthday Munz!
  18. The following law was found on the Minnesota State Police Website. This is one of the best things I have seen for officer safety that is so basic. I actually do this, I have even inched over the double yellow line on occasion to promote safety towards the unprotected police officer. This could reduce injury as well as fatality numbers on traffic stops. New York should adopt such a law and set up dummy stops to enforce it so that people learn! Minnesote Dept. of Public Safety, aka State Police And, I do understand that it includes all emergency vehicles and their personnel, I just happened to find it on a Law enforcement website and thus posted it according to that.
  19. As long as the "peanut butter balls" are being used to treat the "smile of mighty Jesus"!
  20. I remember Guinness gave out those St. Pat's day countdown clocks to bars that sold a lot of their beer, I am sure someone on here must have gotten one through attrition, no?
  21. Dave, Is the law actually on the books or are the effective dates just for the purpose of the amendment. If so, what is the VTL id for this law? I have not seen anything, but I wasn't really looking either, came across the MN. one as a result of being a buff. I did however move on over for a Trooper on my way to work, as I always do!
  22. You mean, I am really #50? Cool... And that part about your Dad is actually cool too...May he Rest In Peace.
  23. I believe NYCfire.net is a member of this forum...fyi
  24. Looks like a buff or member did it...doesn't look "official".
