  1. That's not an EMTBravo enterprise is it? Just Kidding of course!
  2. Sounds like these kids need a swift a**-kicking!!!
  3. That is fine, in other words, don't kill yourself (not that you should've been to begin with) and don't get boxed into a situation where it will be difficult to remove from because there is no imminent hazard. However, until a preliminary report is given and units are told they can go back in service and discontinue their route to the scene, they continue to respond and stay on the outer perimeter or on the "main" roads. All departments respond to non emergencies. Whether it be police, fire, or ems. It is a part of the job! A basement full of water during a large storm is not really an emergency, unless other hazards occur and deem it so by default. An elderly person locked out of their apartment on Western Ave is most definitely not an emergency (using the street cause he is yfd910 and that is a routine call for L-74). Or responding from 1 fire scene back to the first fire scene that is now either out or deemed under control in order to investigate its cause and origin is not a true emergency. Regularly people need our help in some way or another, however not all of the time do they need it so immediately if there is no risk of loss of life, limb, property, or the pursuit of happiness (this really doesn't go here). As for below, should we make this topic a poll and each member answers as to their own issue?????
  4. Now, I am a Yankee fan, but this was pretty hilarious. They should have kept their mouths shut, this would have been funnier in like 35-100 years!
  5. HEY Wheel, Thanks for this answer. Haven't seen the newer reports...working inside for way too long now...and fortunately I have been avoiding meeting other people by "accident".
  6. I do understand what you mean by the not paying attention thing, however I was referring to those that occur in heavy traffic conditions. If they are 500 or more feet away and don't see you, I am awfully sure it will be a lot worse than just a minor traffic collision...In other words, OUCH! How about cell phone tickets? If one driver says that the other driver was using a hand held (not free) device. This wouldn't be hard to prove, all calls are logged by the provider no(?), isn't there a way to put the hones on the person to prove that they were not using the cell phone as has been previously described? On another note, is there any way of tracking how many accidents are caused by hand held cell phones? And does anyone think that there may be grant money out there to do a study?
  7. That is exactly what I am thinking! Unfortunately, I have been rear ended 3 times!!!!! People like to draft off of me I guess!
  8. Minor question, how about when someone is rear ended because the person behind was obviously following too closely due to the damage, even if there are no injuries, do you write?????
  9. I have not heard of anyone using it recently...one time a few years ago. It still may be useful even if not everyday.
  10. Hopefully someone can help. Recently I was in Stamford visiting my sister who had a baby girl at Stamford hospital. I saw a few city PD cars with LED light bars, however while they were patrolling or just sitting in a parking lot, the ends of their light bars were on "glow". One end is red, the other blue, and it appeared to be a low intensity always on setting. Is this on purpose? Does anyone else do this? Thanks in advance. MFY
  11. Oh Christ, another Schultzey!!!!! Congrats, mine is on the way (August/Septemberish)!!!!!
  12. YFD 910, we also "re-tone" in Yonkers, companies are originally toned out for the assignment, and on all hands, fire control tones a 10-30 tone and "page all" tone alerting all stations and administrative divisions of the condition. Hence, re-tone. Usually it is at least 3 minutes after the first arriving units get on scene and realize they have a worker and not just another "I burned the chicken". As well, on the 10-30 (confirmed major structure fire) YFD gets additional units, and YPD for traffic, and EMS for medical conditions/aided cases possibly resulting from said incident.
  13. If you go to ESPN.com...I am a member of the conversation board...I am a general college basketball and major league baseball fan. Just happens that Duke is my #1 team, but I regularly support, Syracuse, Memphis (Penny Hardaway days), Michigan State, and Oklahoma State. I am just upset that I am working too many days that the tourney is being played. My DVR is almost to capacity. I was actually surprised that Duke got so much press here in NY, back cover of both the News and Post! But then again, no NY area teams are even competing for anything...even the pro basketball teams! BTW the Yanks looked like garbage today if anyone caught it!
  14. Interesting...Cruise mode. I do think it works, especially for high visibility patrols, such as in urban neighborhoods, but they probably know what street you are on before they see you...Streets is Watching theory. Now, is it a police department policy or a city ordinance? In California it is a state policy correct? I have seen it in many instances out there, never on this coast though.
  15. I am in mourning...I am looking for a Duke logo with a black band across it, but cannot find one. BTW there are a lot of haters out there...have you seen the papers today??? Well, there is always next year. Hopefully the Yanks can pick me up for the summer! And as for the tourney, since they beat us, GO Mountaineers, beat those damn HEELS!!!!!
  16. I know this is directed at Chief Flynn, however can you clarify the question. On the initial alarm, do you mean actual call of reported fire or commercial alarm? In Yonkers, they get 4E, 2L, and 1 Batt. on commercial alarms. Thanks, MFY
  17. That is awesome...I want to see the "warrant". Does he go by the alias of Whinnie the Pooh?
  18. Unfortunately, I disagree with St. Patrick's Day becoming a National Holiday...I also don't agree to 9/11 or 12/7, those are days of infamy that should be remembered however not celebrated. Veterans day is a day of remembrance as is Memorial Day, however we also celebrate those who are still alive that served for us and those that will serve in the future. Just a thought, I am no expert on holidays.........or anything for that matter.
