Sorry, can you refresh my memory on Stormytown Rd. Is that the one 2 streets north of 134? If so, they should fill in the barrier there!
-
Sounds kinda cool...Only the way a real buff would want it! And if it works, well, good for them!
-
Saw this on the news today! GREAT IDEA!
-
Holy macaroni! Buffalo, NY!!!!!! They should have it in Yonkers when the Ridge Hill project is complete!
-
Okay, I thought 123 was older, but I am out of the game up there...now-a-days.
-
Which is older, 123 or condo 1? And is Montrose looking to drop 2 engines and buy 1 and even out at 2 altogether?

The County Police Spec Ops Kite...
-
I think that the IA's assigned to County specific links are an okay idea, however there should still be a workshop for each section and the photo's of that incident can go in there...or create a link off of the original alert page that brings you directly to the "workshop" or "photo-shop" of the event so you don't have to chase through multiple forums to access such. Now that you have a larger staff this could be a job of theirs, who ever is "on duty"...

Sounds like they are having fun getting to this on the air. As for aviation for "VIDEO", why not just utilize them to put out the fire using their BAMBI BUCKET. To call them in for a video feed seems useless when compared to the fact that they are capable of handling at least a part of the firefighting duties without having to be stranded in the burning woods that are apparently only accessible by boat at this time...Just MY opinion!

Barry, they kept their "on the job" seniority or no? And is this still permissible? This would be the 1st time I have heard of this, but I am young. As I understood it, Police officers used to transfer from NYC to Westchester jobs but that was discontinued years ago. And now they call it resign/rehire.
-
Cool, Thanks!
-
Are they using Aviation?
-
Ouch, hopefully something is missing...for their sake as well as that of the little boy!

I understand what you both are saying, however the terminology is incorrect. I worked as a dispatcher for the Westchester County Police and then "transferred" to Yonkers. I had to be on the current list and be hired there from and in order to take the job in Yonkers, I resigned from the County and was hired by Yonkers. I did carry over time for retirement, but I started at the bottom with no time on and had to go through all the training, some of which was redundant, just as any "new" person would. I also had to request that my retirement system record with time in be "transferred" by the state from Westchester County to the City of Yonkers. This is not a true "transfer". If it were a transfer I would have moved from one location to another with no loss of anything! Once again, you can't transfer anywhere unless you are on the active hiring list that is delivered by passing the civil service test covering that specific jurisdiction. Unless you are hired provisionally by another job pending passing of the civil service exam. In both cases, you must resign your current position and be rehired at the same type of position with another department, as a new hire. There are no direct transfers between departments. It would be great if that were allowed, you know, like work 5-10 in Yonkers and then transfer to somewhere like Yorktown to wait out the last whatever years until retirement and carry over everything including paygrade, seniority, vacation/sick time, and longevity. This however is only a dream!

Here is the Google Map Link for the area of the Brush Fire: Click HERE!

And now Armonk is responding with another boat. 6-10 is way greater than 1 when it comes to acres!
-
That is not a "transfer". You can't just call another department and ask to get a job, you must be on the "LIST" and be offered a job. Hence, you re-sign from your current job and are re-hired by a new department and start all over from scratch excluding retirement time as long as they are in the same system. A transfer would be if you retained your current status/position, hence if you transferred from Mt. Vernon to Yonkers as a Captain, which is not permitted! Your retirement/pension is the only thing that transfers, no seniority nor position does, therefore this is not really a transfer!

Just heard a general "60 Control to Port Chester"...didn't pay any more attention to it...sorry!
-
Ouch, it was too sunny and too long a day, consider yourself saved even more of a hassle. I am sure you guys would have come if something went down and we needed mutual aid down here, and knowing that is good enough all around!
-
Port Chester just got dispatched...
-
WTF is Jerk Water???? Would love to come by, but I have to work!
-
Now I know why my garbage pick up was bad last week, I don't remember approving your vacation! Hope you had fun, can't wait for mine in June...
-
Unfortunately there is no such thing as "TRANSFER". Only resign and rehire. Just have to make sure you are hired by the new place before you resign from the first place! Retirement may carry over if it is another dept in the same State with the same system for retiring in place. State to State, I don't believe so, however it is sad, it would be nice to transfer somewhere with seniority, almost like going from station to station...

There were at least 15 medical aided cases prior to the Pope's arrival. Assisting was the Yonkers FD on first responder basis along with the Empress EMS personnel at the site. There may have been more, but I was busy managing the regular police action, which included a ridiculous (shouldn't have happened) foot pursuit on Nodine Hill!
-
From YONKERS: Thanks to all that were involved...things went awfully smoothly, besides the foot pursuit on Nodine Hill...thanks to 305 car!!!!! This was a great job that took many agencies to coordinate and handle and with the exception of a few minor incidents, mostly people not hydrating themselves properly, it went off without a hitch. There were a few small incidents that occurred such as a male caught trespassing that didn't have a ticket that the Troopers grabbed on Valentine St., and the suspicious helicopter that 192 and friends chased out of Yonkers... Once again, from the dispatcher on Channel 1 E/T til 1930, thanks for all the HELP! See ya'll next time! Goodnight! MFY
