  1. The other difference between cell phone and seat belt enforcement is that "Click it or Ticket" is a NATIONAL campaign, sponsored by the Traffic Safety Group or whatever they are called. Federal funds are dispensed to enforce seatbelt use, including the use of other sponsors such as Consolidated Edison who puts the stickers on almost all of their vehicles. Cell Phone is not a national law, almost like motorcycles and helmets. Some states allow cell phones while driving, all states must buckle up.
  2. That is so sad. I couldn't imagine trying to live with all that B.S. Like NYC has no money, there are so many useless programs and departments that aren't necessary and they can't pay the cops and medics a decent wage, it just isn't right especially when the 2 NY baseball teams spend billions of dollars on their players. There is seriously something wrong, and no way to fix it! This will not even come close to stopping all the guys from leaving to go to other jobs that have respect for those who protect and serve!
  3. Cool...I didn't go there much in my career, maybe 2-3 times...
  4. If MVFD and all the M/A companies go away to golf, who is going to cover the jobs????? Guess you could call Yonkers...lol
  5. At home...to the .net cause it is saved as a bookmark...but never on at home...lol At the other place, always type in .com...force of habit I guess, not much on there that interests me anymore...I think there are just way too many portals and such. The new photo thing, I could do without...Nice photos, but some people don't know how to make them the right size for easy viewing. I think that .com should still feature photos from the people who send in the best shots and the portals should be separated to their own regions websites...I don't like how .net (the original) is on the bottom of the portal list, I could care less about the other sites (no offense) and emtbravo.net has by far the most members.
  6. My camera hasn't been snapping...just too busy...
  7. Anybody recognize those names...I wonder which hospital they work at...maybe Lincoln or Jacobi???? I know someone must have seen the cameras that works EMS!
  8. When you say marine gas, do you mean gas stations on the water or is there special gas for boats? I remember filling up my uncles boat on the way to the harbor at a local gas station...
  9. I've decided not to pay for gas...and I took one of RWC's plates...so if the cops come by Rob, it wasn't me.
  10. I could be wrong, but I believe it is also known as Reis Park. Google Map Link! Evidently, I was wrong with Reis Park...the map link above has been corrected to show the location provided by Andy below! MFY
  11. But other shows like CSI and the First 48 are doing unbelievably well and they show some of the same stuff. Although CSI is an undercover soap opera...it shows some gory things. The problem with EMS shows is, how long each call actually last. There is really nothing to follow. You could do a new show for each day in the life...
  12. Maybe it is time to raise pay to reflect the job and its duties...not to mention its importance to everyday events around the world. EMS is getting news folks...maybe someone will take up their plight...and if one day it becomes worth it, maybe I will switch back.
  13. I think I seen that guy before...
  14. I think it is a great idea. It has been discussed on here and in Peekskill in the past without any action. In the article, the mayor is quoted as saying, "We are at a crossroad." Well, that is just where the fire house should be...Park & Broad which is also known as the crossroads, hence the plaza of stores across the street are named after. That has been a useless lot for more than 25 years of my life that I can remember. As well, when I drive through Peekskill, which is all to often, I always see the units gathered at certain stations like E130 or E131's house. If anything, Peekskill could probably save some money on diesel fuel as they would all be together all the time. It just makes sense, but that may be the biggest stumbling block. Hopefully the individual companies will not block the wheels of progress.
  15. Buried alive and lives to tell about it...sounds like a predicament I would rather avoid. And as for the large vacuum truck, is this an emergency vehicle or did they borrow it from somewhere...I wonder. Incident Alert - as posted by Ace84
  16. We have all heard of google earth, and it's satellite views of our planet, but did you know that you can also look at the moon via google. I know this sounds like an ad, but boredom has lead me to finding this... Google Moon
  17. Glad I don't ride with you anymore...LOL. Actually I miss it, but with the new little one on the way, I ain't even trying to get back in the game just yet...
  18. Shouldn't this be in EMTBravo photos as a recent delivery? Air 4? Correction, Hair 4...
  19. Dr. Zuki, gangs are actually a problem in Southwest Yonkers. However the numbers being quoted by the JN may be false. The 4th precinct has been actively patrolling this location with negative results of trespassers or anything for the past few weeks. I also don't think that the gangs are getting together on their own. There was a "gang summit" held in Yonkers at the Nepperhan Community Center last year in which a number, unknown count, of alleged gang members showed up. At that meeting were members of the "political organization" known as the Latin Kings. They preached how gangs were an "after school activity" and that they are peaceful. One of their speakers was later shot by a rival gang member on School St. in front of the housing projects, imagine that... Being one that takes the calls on a daily basis, I feel that our worst offenders are the Vatos Locos, obviously this is a Latin gang. It seems that once a day someone mentions them in their call as being the offenders. The YPD gang unit seems to be working on the problem as best they can and hopefully the re-development of the downtown area will help deter youth from joining these organizations by giving them something to work for or go do. One idea may be a simple one, start a wooden bat baseball league using the new minor league stadium and get FDC (the developer) to provide the funding for it. More games the better, you never know, the next star might come from Yonkers...
  20. Sorry, I flat out don't believe the guy. Sounds like a really good story!
  21. Today I received an email...sender showed as the IRS, wanted me to click a link and put in direct deposit information for the Economic Stimulus check. I don't think that the IRS would do this, as they released information that if you elected for direct deposit on your income tax return they would use that same info. And if you chose to receive a check for your return, then you would receive a check. Be wary if you get this email...it smells like a phishing Scam and I reported it to microsoft via Hotmail...where it was sent. I will check the IRS site often to see if anything comes of it, but I wouldn't answer it nor click any of the links!
  22. Look up...I put the schedule on here...you will know exactly when yours is coming...
