Link to LoHud 3 line story... Congrats to the new members...especially P.P.O. Shinault....who has been a dispatcher for the past 3 years! He has been waiting patiently for this and we all wish him good luck on the Streets!
-
Yes, that is good...and I believe the correct answer is overtime is cheaper in the end, no?
-
Oh you talked to the most annoying sgt in the world aka "pat"? He is on the sticker committee...you know...accrediated agency! And everyone is allowed to park in the lot now!
-
Yea, they moved all of the accesoride junk to NYC somewhere...and left 1 mechanic to work on the ambo's! Well, that is last I heard... And Chris King is back...ooops did I say that?
-
me too...was disappointed when it stopped!
-
I see a lot of vans...not so many boxes around...and I see the supervisors using either a ford expedition (ex 34m1) or the pickup conversion truck they got a few years ago... When I see the boxes...half the lights aren't working...I know they have 1 mechanic now but come on!
-
2nd that!
-
Those things are beasts and they are ugly...I thought they had pickups for towing stuff? Well...who drives them?

Although I hate to do it, I am going to agree with weasel on this one. The Bicyclist should've yielded to the pedestrian in the roadway. The officer albeit was there first and the bicyclist should have ceased his forward movement! He not only should have been knocked to the pavement, but summonsed for not yielding to the pedestrian in the roadway. It is not like the officer came out from nowhere! He was there the whole time!!!!!! Critical Mass believes they do not have to obey the regular rules of the road! Too bad!

Some may have remembered the my wife and I renovated our home in Buchanan this past winter. We have been back in since about March. So far so good! If you are interested in seeing the pics of the project, click on the link below. So far I have posted demo/construction photos...have to take pics of the finish product and they will be up soon. If anyone is endeavoring on a similar project, let me know, I learned a lot from this project, do's and don'ts and such! Link to My House's Pics...

Was that for me? Otherwise...from Mike's photos/IA, it looks like everyone was there to help and no one was neglected but the MEDIA!!!!! Too damn bad!

I never banged a u-turn. I used to turn into the work parking lot while I was employed there. That is what it is for, not for the everyday driver to turn around and head in the other direction. During rush hours I would go onto the TSP and get off on 117 and then come down 9A so that I could survive to post this rebuttal! Read carefully!
-
Probably shouldn't have been in the U-turn to begin with...wouldn't have been pushed into oncoming traffic, NO?

I use mapquest...how bad does that sound? I asked the dept. for the "technology" about a year ago! Still hasn't arrived with a bow and ribbon! However, mapquest worked great for me the other night assisting in a possible abduction of a child. T-mobile was able to provide me with the lat/lon of the unit and I typed that into the mapquest lat/lon page (under the normal search is a link for this on mapquest), and bingo the cell phone was located...at Mt. Vernon Police HQ and then they called to tell us the same. The child was of course recovered by members of our detective division and returned to the father in Yonkers! From 585 John, it sleeps with the fishes!

Dave, you have obviously been through this in the past too...LOL
-
Not the first time and not the last time someone uses that turn that really shouldn't. I worked at the County for a year and used it a few times when traveling to work if I was coming from the south end. The visibility isn't the greatest and if you are inexperienced you just shouldn't attempt it!

Congratulations Jack! Enjoy the time! BTW, I can't wait to retire! (only 20something more to go)

Actually, I work in Yonkers...however off for this incident. The thruway is policed by the NYPD within the "confines" of NYC and the NYSP throughout the rest of the state. The Yonkers police routinely patrol the thruway between posts and during normal business however it is not the jurisdiction of the Yonkers Police! The YPD assists the NYSP with incidents on the Thruway but never follows up cases nor comments on other departments investigations! The Yonkers Fire Dept also responds on the Thruway because it does run through Yonkers! The article is the Journal News bashing POLICE agencies once again. They call as soon as they hear jobs dispatched and want answers that just aren't available and they have pissed off everyone in the world! They have a really bad attitude and very little understanding obviously! I am sure there was confusion as to immediate jurisdiction at the scene if it were right on the border, and I am sure no one would answer any of their questions other than confirm they are at the incident! LoHud is a good source for inaccurate news...but not nearly as good as News12!

Did you remember to record anything this time...?
-
One of those once in a lifetime calls...sounds like everyone did an excellent job especially given the time of day and conditions! And Hudson...I hear the same boat on the Hudson at night...I went outside the other night to listen to him roar off at 1:30am!
-
Those were the "new" 50 series right? I couldn't stand them when I worked at Empress and they seemed to have a lot of electrical issues! I much preferred the older 50 series, Wheeled Coaches! Even if we did almost die from the fumes! As for empress' purchasing initiatives I have no idea anymore...see new vans around all the time, but haven't seen an obviously new box or mini-mod for some time.

Couldn't agree more...but didn't the town supervisor put some moratorium in place...was that last year or this year? Maybe they can't spend any money? I just can't believe they put an add on craig's list... I mean I know the county sells surplus and old equipment on ebay...but that is selling, not buying or looking for donations.
-
That's new....

Did someone say Bergman was in charge? Of course he did a great job...while a dunce once in a while...he did learn from the best...LOL
