  6. if the volunteer Fd's are hurting for manpower especially during the day time, why dont they open up membership to people outside stamford who can do a duty day or night?
  7. I dont listen during the day, just when Im at work, just the times i hear I always hear them getting out quickly
  8. ive been listening to stamford while at at on overnights and I got to tell you ive heard TOR get out pretty much every calls, signing in under a minute, they had a pin job the other night and their engine and rescue were on the road right after dispatch
  9. why are dispatcher paid so little in NY?
  10. Cogs- as a former Prince Georges County Firefighter I know first hand what they have down there will never work in Stamford, its like comparing apples to oranges Half the volunteer firefighter down there do not even live in the state of Maryland! If the TOR and BFD want to stay all volunteer, they need to accept memberships from outside of Stamford and set up duty shifts, TOR is a very busy dept and can not be staffed with home responders most of the time, there needs to be a dedicated crew in house. And I am sorry to say it cause I am a volunteer firefighter also, the day your dept can not staff apparatus and regularly cover calls, its time to have paid personnel
  11. no lights here... and no problems either.. I still pull in the firehouse the same time as the other guy does with 26 different lights
  12. what a mess, not know everything about this battle, I can only state that TOR is a fairly busy dept and as a 100% volunteer dept would need to staff the stations just to handle all the medical calls
  13. Im sorry thats a horrible salary range
