Date: 1/15/10 Time: 22:52 Location: 162 Broadway Road Frequency:33.5600-dispatch 33.7600- Ops Units Operating: Long Hill Car 1, Car 4 Engine 206 Ladder 204 Squad 209, EMS, PD, FM-1 FM-3 ( Trumbull Center & Nichols Units returned) Weather Conditions: Snow Description Of Incident: Fire showing from C-side of 2 story house. Engine 206 grabbed a hydrant and stretched a line making a quick knock down. Ladder 204 and Squad 209 searched, vented and checked for extension. Incident scaled back to Long Hill units. First in companies found heavy smoke banked down to the floor and a working dryer fire. Fire was knocked down, checked for extension and ventilated. Several years ago I had the nozzle on the first line for a fire in a 2.5 story balloon frame..heavy heavy gray smoke showing No TIC.. we stretched in through a side door..about 5 feet in there was about a 1X2 hole in floor..we noticed it at the last second,then realized there was heavy fire in the basement... continued on to find the basement stairs, we finally found the basement door, opened it and guess what we found? NO STAIRS- as they had been removed for remodeling. we removed our line out of the building and found a door to the basement on the exterior and entered in there to knock down the fire but not before it traveled up the walls and took over the attic..hearing stories keeps reminding what could of happened that night.. TIC are a must

Courtesy of firegroundimages all pics will be up soon- http://www.firegroundimages.com/gallery/86...72_fqFvf/Medium Date: 6/26/09 Time: 18:15hrs Location: 24 Cherry gate Ln Frequency: 33.5600- Dispatch 33.7600- ops Units Operating: Trumbull FD(Nichols,TCFD, Long Hill) Huntington FD, Monroe FD, Stevenson FD, Stepney FD, Botsford FD, Sandy Hook FD Weather Conditions: Thunderstorm Description Of Incident: Nichols District dispatched for a reported kitchen fire Enroute dispatch reported multiple calls for fire coming from the house- filled out structure fire assignment adding Trumbull Center and Long Hill- units responding from several other calls Heavy Fire showing from the rear of large 2 1/2 story colonial- lines stretched into the interior Command reports heavy fire on all floors have 4 lines stretched and operating, requesting evacuation tone- switching to exterior ops Fire now through the roof Command reports little to now water pressure in area, requesting 6 tankers to the scene(a first for Trumbull) Fire placed under control @ 21:30hrs- holding all in town companies on scene, releasing tankers and out of town mutual aid Stepney FD fill in to Long Hill, Norwalk Engine 1 to Trumbull Center (there was a miscommunication w/ Trumbull dispatch and cmed and cmed called Norwalk and requested an engine to the scene- Engine 1 arrived and was sent to cover since they were already in town) Long Hill took in several calls during fire, Trumbull Center responded to another lightning strike during fire Some units still onscene as of this post Reporters: Writer: eckyphats
