i hear danbury is an awesome dept to work for! I missed this test but I wud love to get hired there,, do you see them establishing a list again in the near future?

That is true for certain classes, there are regional fire schools scattered around the state... 6 i believe. Luckily in trumbull we have over 15 certified fire instructors and we can run just about any class in house.... 60% of personal are FFII or higher, and many members have specialty classes

snow? whats snow??? we have crews stand by in the station.. we do not get paid but the district spring in for food during the entire event. the only thing different is the response is altered extrications and working fires still get the same response, everything is else is usually a single engine response from the closest station. if we get a reported fire with just one call or smoke in the building, its usually one engine one truck

i use itunes I used limewire but it messes up your computer and makes it run slow... itunes is good if ur just downloading songs... only 99 cents a song

i wear mine the same, the bottom of the radio is just above the end of my coat and if i had to change a channel or adjust the volume i can slide my hand up the side of my coat and change it.. also i drive the engine alot and its nice to have becuz i dont have my coat on and there is no where else to to keep the radio

in trumbull, ct ems is dispatched any time we go to structure fire protocal, ie a working fire or any incident where it may be a working fire like if we have a smoke condition in the mall or one of the elderly complexes. structure fire protocal automaticaly gets a mutual aid company, an rit comany, ems and the utilities

i agree 100%, all very very good classes for newer firefighters, classes wont make you a great fireman but these classes give you the fundamentals that can be applied with on the job experience

we dont really have a policy but i am a strong believer of at least two different water sources. for the most part our entire town has a hydrant every 500-1000 feet so catching hydrants is easy. we make every attempt to have each station responding to take an alternate running route to ensure each engine is not approaching the scene the same way. i beleive the first due should have a water source and also an additional engine be positioned if at all possible on the C - side of the building and that hey secure a second hydrant. the only disadvantage is poor pressure in the area and trying to run off 2 hydrants on the same main
