If the rig is properly speced out it will be. I have seen several commercial rigs that have added safety roll bars inside that are still a huge savings over a custom cab and faster into service from time of order.

Yes what "SHOULD" be done is one thing and having it done are two totaly different things. EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement should be paid what they are worth too but when it comes to a way for the elected officials to save a buck what do you think is going to happen either they pay for a EMS contact for the town or they pay their own salery and get a raise as well. Now were do you realy think the priorities are in the legislative body.

yes if you look in the thread about DJ structure fire they mentioned it and also the dept. in Putnum they got it from.

What is the farthest that you will go out of the county for mutual aid? What is the fuel range, flight time, and how soon can you be in the air once called for. This is a great resouce to have avalible and should definitly be taken advantage of if needed if nothing else then for a arial view of the fire since this is a great advantage in lage area fires.

so let me see if I undestand some of your opinions. You would rather have a person with little to no understanding of the duties and opperations of your job deciding what equipment, aperatius, PPE, and training is appropriate for a fire department??? I would rather see it be a requierment to be a volunteer or past volunteer so they know what they are doing and how it will impact the operations of the firefighters.

.what are the sites to do online CMe hours? I need to start taking CME's and any online CME's would be a help

from what I have been told by people I work with that are high up on the current list it look like 2 classes this year and next year who knows. But I have also been told that Corrections is going to have 4 tests this year for CO but possibly lay off 1897 CO's. at $40 per person testing and thousands of testers its not to bad a fund raiser for the state.
-
When I entered the academy for DOCS they were running 2 locations in the state and running 3 classes at a time. last year they shut both academys down for most of the year then only reopened the one in Albany and are running 1 class at a time "as needs arise". I don't know the actual number now but when I went to the academy they told use that in the next couple years almost 50% of the CO's in the state would be eligable for retierment. And to the 10,00 that will get released how long do you relly think it will be before they end up returning to the state corrections system. The majority of the inmates we are seeing curently are ether parol violators or previous inmates in on a new bid. So by releasing 10,000 they are actuly creating a need for more Police and parole officers to handle the increaced work load.

Corrections is another one that is two years with out a contract and have gone to arbitration to resolve a contract. Albany is pushing a law that changes Corrections law to alow for 90 days notice to close a Correctional facility instead of the curent 1 year mandate. This after the changes that were just aproved in the drug laws the state wants to dump, I mean "release" 1500 inmates asap and a total of 10,000 by the end of the summer. Overtime is being hired for every shift at my facility curently so how layoff will save the state with having to pay for even more OT is beyond me. I stoped thinking about my contract or a chance for a raise almost a year ago and now I am simply praying I still have a job when the summer rolls around.

-

I do not know what system Arlington (Dutchess) uses however there are keypads on all of the Ambulances, fly cars, cheif cars. They do not have any on the engines or trucks however SOP's state that they are not to be left unatended. I seems like a great system so far since I am still new to using it.
-
At Arlington Fire in Dutchess we have combination pads on all the fleet vehicles with the exception of the engines and trucks. I think that its a great way to secure the vehicles and not have to worry about remembering keys.

RIP and prayers to the officers family and fellow officers in this difficult time. Its a sad fact that DWI arrests do little if anything to stop people from getting back behind the wheel drunk so soon after an arrest and even before the first case is heard by the courts. Maybe we need to start impounding cars and not releasing them untill after the case since the car is "evidence" and in some cases a "weapon"
-
only true if the agency you belong to Transports PT's. When my last dept. took its ambulance out of service we took an old chiefs explorer and made it into a fly car and were told by DOH that since we no longer transport we would need a new agency number and they wold no longer inspect our vehicles. also they stated that we no longer needed to do PCR's but instead could use first responder forms.
-
I built a BLS first responce vehicle for my last fire district and we tried to get it inspected when the DOH was doing their yearly inspection and were told that "BLS first responce" vehicles are not inspected by the NYSDOH. Direct from the DOH inspectors mouth to my ears

I belive the home owner was transported to Sharon Hospital with hand injuries? radio was cutting in and out in Poughkeepsie and alot of radio traffic at the time.

I agree that no medical information should be released with out a court order however this is two city agencies that need to work togeather and withholding the findings of an internal investigation sounds very bad to me . As for EMS using force lets put it this way Police Officer will be draged onto the stand any time force is used and a lawsuit is filled and the first thing that will happen is training records will be magicly produced by both sides trying to show the level of training the the officer has in "Use of Force". Last I knew there is no such training as part of the NYS EMS certification.
