I have 22 years left and at the current rate I will be cross trained in other state jobs in the next 5 years from what my UNION is telling me.

When I lived in Las Vegas for 3 years I almost bought a 5 bedroom house for $175,000. My sister bought the same house from the same builder in the Denver area for $750,000. Not to mention no state income tax and low average pay by most casino's make it an inexpensive area to live. The only reason I moved out of Las Vegas is my son was born and it is no place to raise a child. Laughlin is right on the Colorado River across from Bullhead city and a long way from any other resources the county has. Remember there is a limited number of agencies in Clark County Nevada and most have merged with each other (Sheriff's office and LVMPD) I still don't see that much savings being realistic.

after watching the video in the link it looks like more trouble then its worth for an enging but might be good for a hose wagon since you still have to manualy pull each coupling past the rollers. Whats next disposable LDH?

Arlintons new engine is at the shops as well as the new ambulance. Arlingtons new tower should be in very soon as well. New engine will hopefully be in service by the end of July. once I upload my camera I will add photos.

I agree bail is not punitive. Bail is designed to keep people that are a danger to the community off the streets so they can not harm anyone until their trial. So again some one who is willing to lead the police on a pursuit endangering the lives of the police and any citizens in the are is a danger to the community and I feel that my children's lives are worth a hell of a lot more then $500!

actually $500.00 bail is a slap in the face to any person that lives in the Hudson Valley this guy was trying to flee from the police and all it will take for him to walk out of jail is a mere $500.00 Lets wake up and realize that half the reason we are in a financial crisis is the criminals leaching off of honest people. Make it so crime does not pay. Fine criminals so they don't laugh about their fines since that's all that most criminals think about their fines, that and compare NYS prisons to summer camp :angry: .

also many ER's are Medic dependent. If you roll into many hospital ED's with what I consider a BLS PT the nurse or Dr. has a fit since there is no line started so that they can have one less thing to do in the ED. :angry: I have seen way too many great medics that I would want to treat me if needed chastised by ER docs and nurses when the PT was BLS by protocols.

I'm not sure but I believe its for the transport of the families of Fire Fighters that are injured or Fire Fighters that are unable to drive to get to Dr. appointments while on comp.

who is standing near the engine in the grey hat, blue jeans, navy shirt and sneakers? He is in the first and tenth pic. Only wondering since he has a radio strap and also a pistol. I am aware of several LEO's that are also volunteer FF's and have a feeling that is the case here.

If it isn't already out there I am sure it will be soon. Several states require paperless PCR's so there are allot more options then a few years ago.

may not be a cheif since some one ran over with the helmet however there is fire visible under the trailer the entire vidio from the begining .

The new Rescue pumper being built for Arlington has power door locks and keypad combination for the locks. First step is to lock the vehicle if it is parked outside. All of the systems I have used that over ride the ignition to keep a vehicle running after the key is remover kill the engine once the brake is pressed unless the key is returned to the run position.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people that made the discovery since any time dealing with a child if difficult enough let alone a recovery. I am glad for the closure for the family and hope the responsible party is quickly brought to justice

I like the system as well for recognising positive posts, I just don't see a need to have Negative Points all they are is a weapon that can be used against some one. Explain what I said that deserved negative points in this post: If its a lie I will delete it however prove its a lie if you can, But in no way was it ment as vollunteer VS career statement simply stating a fact.

Really? With so many people questioning the need for Negative points after you already did away with them once. from what I see this is just one more way that people are turning things into a pissing match between 2 groups of firefighters that should be working together.

This can be very true. There is a HUGE differance between Paid Staff and Professional Staffing. I know several Professional Fire Fighters both Paid and Volunteer and unfortunitly for the entire Fire Fighting career I know some Paid unprofessional Fire Fighters as well.

My Dept. went on a walk through of a 5 story commercial building almost across the street from Station 5 last fall. In the 1st floor is Five Guys Burgers, A Pizza restaurant, and 3 vacant retail locations. Floors 2, 3 and 4 are Medical Offices with 3rd being Medical Records. Floor 5 is also Vacant. During our walk through give by the building owner we had full access to ALL areas of the building including Fire pump Shed, Roof, Kitchens, Electrical Rooms, and mechanical areas. One interesting thing we all took away from the tour was that in the area between the FDC and the alarm panel is a 1500 gallon Waste Oil tank for 5 Guys Burgers. We were surprised since the tank is centered on the far wall of the building as 5 Guys.

So what is new found point for negative points? I see no need and they can easily turn into a way to get back at some one and eventually turn into a personal attach issue. We had this on a different forum I was on.
