Said "Could be" also, I work for public ems and we bill people with a vengeance, so its not like we dont try

This is kinda scary to witness. Lets all watch as something that could be a revenue generating program for a municipality goes private. Just like everything else is going the way of private sector these days. Its all under the guise of cutting municipal budgets. I should just set up a private firefighting company and undersell municipal firefighters in various cities because then I could bill for a fire and ease a cities tax burden. I could pay my employees garbage and make good profit. Its the American way.

I never post on here, but I'll just say this. FDNY did an excellent job, and EMS really did solid work. The EMS guys first on scene did an expert job with triage and really started the rescue effort off right. There were several scene dedicated ALS and BLS units on scene within 10 mins and several ALS and BLS Transport units on scene not five minutes later, with more being dispatched every time units left the scene. I was sitting at my station watching the CAD for this (my regular unit was at the scene and no spares avail at the station) and they mobilized almost every unit in the north and north east Bronx. Not to mention, still maintain the normal workflow by back filling units and supervisors from both Queens and Manhattan. Personal opinion, this could only have gone as well as it did because it was handled by FDNY. To pull the resources from Westchester Fire and EMS departments necessary to effectively manage this scene and maintain workflow would be a nightmare. Not to mention the on scene nightmare considering every department has their own, SOPs etc. FDNY has the advantage of having a large amount of people all on the same page with standard procedures for MCIs. If Westchester would be able to establish a MCI plan and SOPs that would have all the incoming agencys on the same page, acting in a unified manor, I'd say they could handle it . . but they don't.

Shooting down this bail is good for the long term. Sure 700billion would stabilize the economy, but for how long? The market is finally coming back down to its true value. This is also good for our currency considering we wouldn't be pulling 700 billion in credit out of no where, if we did, our currency would be even weaker.

I hate politics.

The debates are absolute bs, they are regulated by an organization run by only republicans and democrats. Thats why you never see any "third party" candidates at any presidential debate. I'd like to see some candidates from other parties brought to the table.

These are some of the strongest aerials you can buy. I think they are built with a safety factor of like 5:1, most other tower ladders/ladder towers are much less. As far as a city environment is concerned, I think these are some of the best trucks for that environment.

Ahh yes our Ferraras. **THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY** I will say, they have nice cabs and drive very well. However, yes our rigs are too big, and yes our hosebeds are way too high. I wasnt in the dept when they were specing these trucks out so there isn't much I can say about why they turned out the way they did. Not to insult anybody who worked on the project at all, there are a few things I would have done differently. It really is true, you get what you spec. As far as quality is concerned, its not very good. It always seems like something is wrong with at least one of the trucks at any given time. These may not big problems all the time, but even so, it seems like its always something that shouldnt be an issue. All this aside, they still make a decent truck, however this is my warning to any dept considering purchasing a Ferrara. They like to gloat about how good their warranty is and their customer service is. With our experiences, in this respect they have been absolutely horrible. They didnt want to warranty things that should be, and they just havent been good to deal with. This is as I see it, if there is anybody else from my dept on here, please, correct me if anything I said is inaccurate. Personally, do I like the trucks? I have to say, I'm not the biggest fan.

Yeah, there was an awful lot of manpower there. Its better to be safe than sorry and have them on hand when you need them. Plus it seemed like just about everybody was put to work.

This is funny cause I was just driving home and saw 2 DEP Haz-mat vehicles. Until then I never knew they had a team. Funny how I come home and then find a thread on it.
