  1. 80B2 does not have it. I know it was discussed for the new 80B3, but I'm not on that committee, so I'm not sure either. We are getting it on the new RES20CUE.

  3. Moderators are real, and "we" do not censor your posts, before they are posted!! If you look, as soon as you submit the post it appears on the screen. If you can't control yourself in a post, then the specific Moderators for those Forums can delete your post!! This is not a center for bashing people, it's a place for knuckleheads (if the shoe fits...), to learn something about the topics in the forums, and what's going on around the county. If you can't play by the rules of this site, then maybe you should leave it, you won't be the first!! As far as your 1st Ammendment rights go- this is a private forum and not a public news paper, so your "rights" are the ones granted to you by EMTBravo!!!! Enough said!!!!!!!!
  4. Engine 225 at the VA also has the "Feecon" system, with a 100 gallon Foam tank, as well as 100 gallons in storage.
  5. Yes there is a Westchester Fire Training Center- It is located at 4 Dana Rd in Valhalla. The facilitiy was first constructed in 1974, and has had improvements since, and just lately approved to have another addition and improvments. Westchester also runs a career firefighter academy twice a year. This is sponsored by the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control The County currently employs 44 instructors. Who teach NYS OFPC courses as well as County courses, that an instructor can develop from his or her own expertises. These CFI's (County Fire Instructors) also run the training center and assist all 58 departments in Westchester, when they use the facility. There are also 2 sattalite training centers (classrooms only) at the Town of Mamaroneck FD and the Katonah FD. We also utilize the NYS Fire Academy Annex, located at Camp Smith in Peekskill (also in Westchester) During the course of 2004- Westchester Instructors have taught/ or are currently running 11 Firefighter I courses- more than any other county in the State! Check out the website: http://www.co.westchester.ny.us/emergserv/training.htm
  6. Yep, All day long!!!!
  7. Went there right after class from the Training Center- Great Job, place was packed- Good Food- well worth the $10.00
  8. As previously posted- 1500 GPM Waterous 2-stage pump 1000 Gallon Booster Tank.
  9. Russ will do a good job as always, not to concerned with anything that he can take care of. I'm just gonna put an old Low Band radio in it for now, until the new UHF system is up and they start installing them. I dont know how East Yorktown has their stations numbered, but it is slated to be assigned to Granite Springs Fire HOUSE. 186 will become the reserve unit, and most likely be assigned to Somers House, and 182 will be reassigned back to Amawalk.
  10. Engine 185 was not accepted, and returned to Ruscon for repairs and a few small items that were not there, but in the specs. Waiting to see the next delivery date! Sorry, no new pics, I was too busy going through the specs and acceptance process. Lettering was suppose to start on Thurs 11/11, but that was postponed.
  11. Thanks Jim, Happy Veterans Day to all the fellow Vets out there- It was a hell of a ride, but this country's worth it!!! God Bless the USA and ALL of it's Veterans Als and Hudson, I'll toast a beer to you, have one for me too!!
  12. The only other times I remember was at 1930, when they tone tested all the Departments the county dispatched.
  13. I believe that's the Halmatro model. We looked at the Curtiss-Wright Power Hawk system and are purchasing it for our new Rescue. We also looked at a newer tool, at the Firehouse Expo, I forget the name of it, but it does not meet NFPA standards, so we did not set up a demo. I haven't heard much about the Halmatro electric, but the Power Hawk has been out for a while, and has been tested and proved, and will work great in Somers.

  18. They are really nice pieces. Bedford's Maxim, "Mutual Aid", "ALF 1951", and Mack Model B with Siren" are all hanging in the Fire Academy in Montour Falls. I spent a few minutes "checking them out" back in August!
  19. Engine 185 will be in quarters on Sunday, 11/7 for final inspection and acceptance testing by the committee. No free-lancers please!!! Let the commitee get done what they have to first!!! Rescue 20- Chassis in production. Chassis scheduled to be delivered to Rescue 1 during the 1st week of January. Possible delivery in April/ May.
  20. New Firefighter I course- Starting 11/2 in Katonah New county policy- posted for 1 week at the firehouses before registration is opened up. Registration opens up at 0800 on 10/26.
  21. Mike & Rob, I just checked the registration sheet- There are no students from Peekskill or Buchannan in my class. Maybe they are registered in the other class that's starting.
  22. John, The limit of 20 is there for the students. Just like in a normal everyday classroom, if there are more than 20, students can "hide" and it's hard for the instructors to keep track of them. Sure it's easy to have 40 students in a classroom setting class, but how do we control and ensure that each student is learning and practicing their skills? I'd rather have 20 proficient firefighters, than 40 firefighters with FFI certificates that can't tie their own shoes! There already have been 8 FFI courses this year in Westchester and 3 more starting this month, that's 220 new Firefighters for Westchester.
  23. Just another day in the "City of Somers" Excellent Job by all involved in all 3 incidents. The accident on 100 went soooooo smooth!!! Training and Teamwork has proven itself again. Very proud to all of you, and proud to be one of your Chief's!! Bravo Zulu (Navy term for a Job well done!)
  24. While working at FTC yesterday, I was informed that the County approved the next phase of the Capitol Improvement Project at the Fire Training Grounds. This next phase is to include- Taxpayer burn simulator Mask Confidence bldg New "Firehouse" for E7, L7, HM1, and FC1 The current bays will be converted to classrooms and offices Combination "Live Burn" and Propane burn Bldg Dredging of the pond and construction of a drafting and Pump test pit there. Conversion of (believe) classroom 1 & 2 into 1 autitorium style classroom. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I remember for now...
  25. My understanding is that there will be 2 other Fire Fighter I courses offered, starting in November. The requests for these courses is sky-rocketing. The county has done an awesome job in getting the new instructors onboard, so there is more Training oppurtunities for the firefighters of Westchester. Just remember to take advantage of these courses!!
