  1. 2000gpm is a lot of water to push with 400hp. Not saying it cannot be done , but ten years down the line with both engine and pump wear some units fail there pump test. Although the ISL in 2007 will be bumped to 425hp. Arrow
  2. Yeah they are called Tillers Just kidding. E-one does rearmount and I think ALF does a mid engine.
  3. Poughkeepsies new Gowans is a nice looking rig,
  4. I feel what you feel ! Hundreds of people march into Black Friday with out a thought of what they spend while walking past a vet that gave his life, whether it was taken in war or taken from him/her through the war and what they saw or what they had to endure.
  5. Izz, I was thinking today and hoping that my reply was not going to be taken as a dig, but rather I like the old mack, but was just astonished that a district with such a base would buy refurb. The later being none of my bees wax, like it was said they are looking to buy aa new rig. Nice Mack!
  6. Uh.......ah ............but........you know what, a picture is worth a thousand words, mine are better left to myself.
  7. Keep up the good work. The site is cool.
  8. Know your firefighters, and do not bark orders. For the guys who you know cannot handle an assignment , put them on another. If you are a young officer, and should be a "young" officer , be yourself you are there for a reason!
  9. You Know what? I hate to see that headline. An arsonist is a D bag , but a firefighter arsonist should be put to death. Not ony for the people he/she puts in danger, but he/she knows what the firefighters arriving will strive to do, above and beyond the folks just wanting to get to safety. It also paints such an ugly picture of " thats what they want to see" said by the public, and I do not know about you, but I would be greatful to not ever see a home or business burn again. And by the way.. looking at the pictures , those firefighters that were doing overhaul and were on the structure where it is leaning, should have never been allowed on the structure or called back down.
  10. Porsha, I had heard a couple (2) years ago they were going to be purchasing these as they do not trust the Fords in rear collision, and that Chevy kinda left the police agencies without much of a choice, for rear wheel drive. I would expect to see more of these if I were you. Arrow
  11. I liked the stick, or maybe platform? I was trying to count the fly sections and base it on the length of the truck. Looks to be a 75-95'? I wonder?
  12. Hey, Engine rescues are also hard to define , but in a way can be a great tool, depending on how they are built. I have seen a few that build them with 500-750 gallon tanks with full depth compartments and full height with the coffin compartments on top. Also the rear mount pump affords a lot of tool storage. I think this can be more of a "mix" unit than an engine/tanker. Although you can design a nice engine/tanker. Arrow
  13. You, know if E-ONE did not buy Saulsbury the rescues would still, be them.
  14. Seagrave , makes a fire truck. And they do it they way it should be done. I was not slighting them at all. They are one of a very few, who still do what they claim to do . I think there walking away may be there rebirth.
  15. Hey , look was just poking fun. FDNY is a tough spec and the trucks are used the way the should be used. But look at the history of who supplied trucks to FDNY and look where they are now. Good for Ferrara if they get it , and 40,000 square addition will not be enough with an order and follow orders. Grreat for Ferrara!
  16. New Paltz NY used them years ago. Although in theory they should work, the use of them I believe is over. Actually New Paltz just got rid of there last Bean with high pressure. I was kid when I saw it used, but the attack with one had to be cordinated with venting, and the third stage or high pressure was not used for supply , just attack, I think, like I said , I was just a kid then.
  17. I guess Ferra will be the next to either bite the dust or have to regroup if that is true.
  18. A lot is lost in a word. Tanker. What it is supposed to do is deliver water. A pumper/tanker has to do both. What gets lost within the word of tanker is not how much water it has on it , but the rate of delivery, and recovery. (To empty the tank , then refill and deliver...) . So what if you have have 3000 gallons of water on the unit, if your dump time is long and your fill time is long it screws up the entire operation. A true "pumper/tanker" would have a dump and fill method that would constitute a great recovery rate along with a full comlpliment of ladders, supply hose, cross lays , hand tools , manpower. Thus it would also have to navigate as an engine, but with the size of such unit(2000-3000 gallon tank) most if built correct would have tandem axles and be longer than your average pumper. Ad a drop tank to match the size or exceed the size of your booster tank and you loose the ability to have what you would find on an engine. A lot are out there , but for the most part they are one or the other. One way to do it correct , and what I believe is the limit, is to do a 1500 gallon booster, low side both sides with a porta tank , rear dump And direct tank fill. You can still fit 6 firefighters in the cab , have a 6 wheel chassis , and be able to fit it in driveways and supply water if called as a tanker.
  19. The windshield is a one piece panoramic bonded windshield , the visibility is incredible and the 3 wipers keep it provide awesome coverage during rain.
  20. The nose is out 8" and it does not hinder the approach angle at all.
  21. LETS GO BROWNS! THIS IS THERE YEAR......................I HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT EVERY YEAR SINCE.......... BUT ONE YEAR I WILL BE CORRECT.
  22. YOU KNOW WHAT? NY , WOULD NEVER HAVE TRASH IN THE STREETS , HOW CAN YOU TELL ANYBODY TO REBUILD , WHEN YOU HAVE GARBAGE IN THE STREETS? CLEAN UP YOUR CITY, AND THE REBUILDING WILL START!
