Just wondering what agencies (if any) still have LOJACK receivers in their cars. Thanks!
-
We have a receiver in the old helicopter and are in the process of upgrading a different directional finder to include LOJACK for the new helicopter. I ask because we've had two stolen vehicle recoveries this week but nobody on the ground seems to have them in the cars anymore. That makes pinpointing the location a little more challenging. The County PD didn't install them in the latest round of cars.

Dunwoodie is located just north of where the Cross County and Saw Mill River Parkways come together in Yonkers. It's one minute from those two highways and about three minutes from the NYS Thruway (I-87). CrimeCop, do you have any fliers that we can post in our headquarters and outlying precincts?

Check out this video about travel warnings posted inside the United States of America...

It's not dumb, it's actually quite strategic. There are such unbelievable anti-pursuit policies in most of these areas that the smugglers (drug or human) know that if they just run in all likelihood they'll get away. There have been some horrific crashes involving these vehicles so instead of more aggressive enforcement, the response from our politically correct to a fault administration is don't chase them and they won't crash. Smart, huh? Now you'd think they would keep this a secret but NOOooooo they issue press releases and boast about their measures to keep the highways and the smugglers safe by not engaging in high speed pursuits. Logic is NOT a prerequisite for elected officials.

Similar issue about our dismal border protection...

You spoke, the staff listened. Let's just keep it relevant and we won't have any future problems. You can always start a different thread to discuss other points not related to the photos/incident. Thank you.

Welcome to EMTBravo. All the towns and villages plus the cities of Rye and Peekskill are covered by the County Civil Service examination for Police Officer. The four "big" cities, Yonkers, New Rochelle, White Plains and Mount Vernon offer their own exams on their own schedule. http://humanresources.westchestergov.com/ http://www.cityofyonkers.com/Index.aspx?page=28 http://www.ci.white-plains.ny.us/Templates/template_text_image_right_panel.aspx?ID=Personnel106 http://www.newrochelleny.com/index.aspx?nid=344 http://cmvny.com/cmsget?exporturi=/export/sites/cmvny3/departments/civ/ Here are some links to the respective jurisdictions' civil service offices. When in doubt, call them and find out when exams are being offered. The last thing you want to do is miss an exam because of a passed filing deadline or other restriction. Good luck.

Regarding aircraft - there may be wing walkers but it is true that there is only one marshal (spotter) who controls the aircraft movement. The wing walkers report clearances to the marshal who directs the tug moving the aircraft (Sounds alot like ICS - you can only have one IC ).

Congratulations!

There's a wide range of people posting IA's so I really don't know what you mean by them being "one point of view". You really haven't gotten your point across so maybe you can try again wehn you aren't so twisted. As for the name of this site, what does that have to do with IA's that are one sided and if they are one-sided have you ever contacted the author with additional information and requested an update? Failing that you can always contact the staff with additional info and we'll try to facilitate the update. Either way, I'm not really sure what your point is.

[/sigh] You need licenses to drive, fly, or have a handgun but reproduction is completely unregulated. You can't fix stupid. This is probably the same person who stops in front of you instead of moving over during an emergency response.

Nothing wrong with posting a link to the live feed. Thanks, Chris192

Thanks INIT, that's what I figured when I saw the date. Perhaps with a fire it's easier to err on the side of the FD. But what if it is an automatic alarm or other impetus for a response? I meet you in my driveway and tell you the alarm was accidental and refuse to grant you access to my home or property; in fact I ask you to leave. Now where are we?

Everybody needs to lighten up. This thread was started to discuss the notion of cross-training and its application in the video example. There are TWO issues that should be discussed here - the efficiacy of cross training personnel and the tactics in the video. Stop the antagonistic and inflammatory remarks unless you want to cause the thread to be closed.

What if the homeowner wasn't doing anything illegal? What if they just don't want to let you in/on their property? What if they bar you from entering? Got a link or source to view this decision? I can't seem to find it.

From what I've heard - and this is by no means official - positions eliminated at the outset would be administrative through attrition and reassignment. No layoffs are being talked about right now. Communications wouldn't necessarily "merge" but could benefit from standardized equipment, a co-located facility, etc. I haven't heard them talking about fire/EMS dispatching police or vice-versa at this point. Who says they're replacing the existing haz-mat team volunteers with paid people? I haven't heard that anywhere. I'm sure there will be some ripples in the pond initially but in the long run I think this will actually be a good thing. DPS has lots of personnel and DES has lots of other resources; putting them together might be a very good combination for everybody.

The environment is very relevant. Being in an affluent suburb is vastly different than being in an inner city war-zone. Hearing someone say they're going to get their gun then having a car used as a weapon against them is all relevant and factors into the perception that led to the actions in question. Irrational behavior? One officer fired one round, two others fired three and four rounds respectively. PO Isnora fired eleven, and PO Oliver emptied two full magazines, firing 31 shots. Not knowing anything about law enforcement training you're ill-suited to call this irrational. Did the officers perceive and react to the threat of deadly physical force? Yes, this is not in dispute. Did the officers fire to protect themselves and others? Yes, so how is that irrational. If Isnora and Oliver still perceived a threat and continued firing that was their judgement at the time but not irrational or a sign of poor training. The whole notion that military training would be better than existing police training baffles me. The military use things like suppression and cover fire, they use missiles and grenades and they have wildly different parameters for the use of force. Troopers don't receive military training, they receive law enforcement training. If you're referring to quasi-military discipline that's completely different than tactics training and all cops/troopers get tactics training but it isn't military based. I wholeheartedly disagree that military training would make better cops or that these officers were inadequately trained.

They who and which regulations?

Correction. It is one fire district north of Sleepy Hollow. Don't blink or you may drive right through it without even knowing!

Yes, there was definitely a supply line running across Route 9. This is what it looked like from our perspective. The smoke was visible from the County Airport too. Air traffic control noted the smoke from the tower. Sorry we didn't get there sooner to catch the real action.
