Thank you x152 for a very well written, informative post. I am not from Stamford, But I have been following this issue very closely, and reading this thread, and it is very refreshing to see a straightforward, informative post, explaining exactly the mechanics of what is going on. I hope more people involved in this issue, on both sides, share your view of trying to work together to get through this. because, like it or not, both sides seem to be stuck with each other for the time being, and it would seem much eaiser for both groups if they worked together, rather than try to undermine each other.

so if China sends their masses after us, what good is the draft going to be? How much help is the draft going to be when Chinese soldiers are knociking on your door? Thats all well and good that the state can call up a militia, but you have squads of Chinese soldiers walking by your house, right now. You need some help right now. I know that this is an extreme case, but I was simply expanding on what NY stated. Not to mention when someone tries to break into your home, and threatens your life and your family's life. You have and should have every right to defend yourself. Now the second quote, isnt that basically what the revolution was like? About American will overcoming great odds?

As with any document, things are always open to interpretation. The ammendment specifically says "the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Seems pretty clear to me. I realize that directly preceding that is a line about militias, but I think the weight of the statement is in the second line. Just differing interpretations of the same document. Just like we see on the supreme court.

I'm curious why they could only tranqualize the bear if they could get it up in a tree. Isnt it more work, because then they have to get him down? If they could shoot the bear on the ground, why couldnt they shoot him with a dart instead? Do they go a little crazy before the tranqualizer takes effect?

Would their BAC's really be the same? Isnt blood volume generally proportional to body weight? So in the above scenario the total volume of alcohol in the blood would be the same, but since the 200 lb guy has more blood, it would be more dilute> Unless I am missing something.

Totally agree with you on Mariska being a fine looking woman. Chris Noth's new partner on CI isnt too shabby either.

So he just left his gun, loaded, on a bench with his clothes while he went swimming? With children running around, no less?

I think youre a little high on your average mpg for vehicles. 15 MPG is a more reasonable figure in this day and age. In your scenario there, a scen 15 miles away, is 1 gallon of gas burned. Plus the return trip, so thats two gallons for that one call. at roughly $4 a gallon, thats $8 for just one call. at one call a week that would be $416 a year. Of course this is assuming a 15 mile response. Which is possible in the more rural areas, around here, Fairfield and lower westchester counties, not so much, but not impossible.

And here we go yet again. Sigh. Does this never get old?

I would look on ebay. Shoudl be around 40 to 50 bucks for a decent used one, it looks like. Keep in mind that there are two types of chargers. The regular charger and the amplified charger. Also, keep in mind that a minitor IV will charge in a charger for a III or a IV.

Just had a problem getting to the forum. Typed in www.emtbravo.net and got an "unable to display page. Hit refresh, and it came up. same thing after I logged in. Cache was cleared last time I used the computer. Maybe some sort of DNS problem?

And today it is not cluttered. No changes made on my end.

I agree with the fence idea. The only problem I see is that if someone is intent on killing themselves, and go to the bridge to jump. Now there is a 12 foot fence on it, so they can't. They might wander out into traffic to get the job done. Now this puts other motorists at risk. Unfortunately there is no easy or quick solution to this problem, and if one issue is addressed, several others will pop up.

+1 for monoprice.com HDMI and any cable actually shouldnt cost more than a couple bucks. Right now i see a 25 footer for 25 dollars. These are digital cables. Either they work, or they don't. There isnt a difference that you will notice between the "monster" cable and the 25 dollar "cheap" cable. Stores dont make a lot of money on the televisions themselves. they make huge profit on accessories like cables, mounts, etc. To the OP, I have heard that many cable boxes require some setup in the internal settings to get an HD picture. These are apparently not as easy as getting all the necessary hardware and getting the programming. One must actually go into the setting menus to setup the cable box properly.

Thats weird. When I maximize the browser it gets uncluttered. But when I go back to unmaximized, its cluttered again. almost like there is a set distance between the stuff on the left and the stuff on the right that is cluttered. Tried changing the skin. the only one that is cluttered is the emtbravo skin. Darkness and orange are uncluttered.

Didn't DB Cooper die attempting to break out of Fox River with Michael Scofield? For those of you that didn't watch Prison Break, I had no idea who this DB Cooper guy was until I saw it on the show and looked him up. It really is a tremendous story. I'm surprised that we havent seen more use of this story in film and television.

Got a widescreen monitor at work and a regular screen at home. And both screens show the words mashed together. Thanks for the response though, Joe.

So this is just applying to municipal employees, right? I believe our town employees are allowed to leave work for a confirmed structure fire, and a call for manpower. I would imagine they do not get paid for the time they are out.

Ive got the same problem. At work I use IE, and dump cookies and cache daily. At home I use firefox. Both browsers have the same problem.

Thats pretty much what i figured. Was there more to your "underwater evidence recovery" training than just DR1?

I couldn't agree more with this statement. I have never seen a productive post from this guy. All his posts seem to be designed to stir the pot. He seems to take alot of stuff that goes on here a little too personal too. I am waiting for him to actually follow through on his "threat" to leave. I also agree with this portion of the post. I would hope that anyone in command at the scene would have to common sense to use the resources available to him. As long as they are properly trained and equipped. The thought that a properly trained and outfitted team close to the incident would not be used for a rescue is a bit asinine. As for the PD take on the crime scene aspect that OneEye mentioned, I know that our dive rescue one class specifically covered crime scenes and evidence recovery. I completely understand why some PD's would only want their divers in the water, and have been on calls where this has happened. I'm just not clear on whether the PD divers recieve different training pertaining to underwater evidence recovery, or if it is just their general police training and the fact that they are sworn police officers. I'm thinking that it probably has to do with chain of custody and that sort of thing.

The 33 apparently thought it was. As you said, there is no way of knowing what is actually going on down there without hearing the full story, and that includes the other sides story.

I understand where you are coming from. I personally don't see how you get to your conclusions from this thread. I read the same thread as you, and didnt think that the original poster, who I really have no idea who he actually is, was thrying to be sneaky or lying to us. I took what he said at face value. He was avolunteer. Then he got on the job, the he retired and h ereconnected with his volunteer department. I didnt ASSUME that since he lives in New Rochelle, he volunteers in New Rochelle. He never stated where he was a volunteer. He never actually stated, that I saw, in what capacity he volunteers. It was my understanding that his volunteer company was elsewhere, perhaps where he lived in his younger days. I guess this depends on where one is a volunteer. I know that here, volunteers and career undergo the same physical each year, the same background check at pre employment, as well as the same drug and alcohol testing. Don't know of any age limit for career or volunteer, minimum for both is 18 I believe. Training wise, all volunteers with tags are trained to at minimum Fire 1 with most going on to Fire 2 and beyond. Continuous training again depends on the company. I know, in my department we train constantly.
-
What exactly is so hard to believe about this statement? That someone was a volunteer, went carreer, retired and reconnected with their volunteer company? Did you ask where he was a volunteer? Why should that matter? You seem to be letting you anti volunteer tendencies show through.

I think it would be beneificial to leave the post where it is in the thread, just delete the content of the post, and put something like "post deleted by mod" where it actually lists the mod's name that deleted the post. I know that I have made psots on other sites, then went back to check to see if there were any responses. Only to not be able to find my post, because it was deleted, so I posted again. and the cycle repeats.
