  1. Does your card still have all four corners though? Since my days as a scout, I have always carried at least a pocket knife. Sometimes also a multi tool. From reading the article, I have gleaned that the school board has a zero tolerance policy to weapons of any kind being on school grounds. The parking lot is school grounds. It is unfortunate that this fine young man got caught, but from what the article states about the policies and what happened, he did break the rules. Do I agree with the rules? Most definitely not. But this is a school. Do we really want everybody walking around with knives? My opinion is that keeping a knife locked up outside in your cars glovebox should be fine. I have no problem with having a legal knife locked in a glovebox in a locked car. However, the school board told everybody to leave the knives at home. This kid didnt. He broke the (crappy) rule.
  2. When I first heard the news last week I was real dissappointed. What was the point of renewing it last season, only to cancel it after they already produced some (all?) of the season 2 episodes but beofre they aired? This is 100% due to their mistake of putting leno on for a third fo their primetime schedule. Hopefully the show will find a new home elsewhere. If not, hopefulyl we get a dvd release of all the episodes. Not like Boomtown where we never got the second season on dvd.
  3. Never seen this locally, but I have worked with the stuff in the past. Basicly it is a glorified tarp. Keeps the elements out. If there is a fire underneath the wrap, it wont be there for long. Doesnt take much for it to burn away. The article talks about security provided by the wrap, well all it takes to get in is a knife.
  4. Curious as to what several people have referred to as "a full set" of tools. Does this mean simply a spreader, a combi tool, and a cutter? What size spreaders do people carry? Same question applies to rams, I suppoose. Are departments carrying multiple lengths of rams?
  5. I imagine they are going back to what they had before the situation in Stamford.
  6. 10001 when I logged in today. Quite a milestone. Congratulations Seth.
  7. Agreed. This is the key thought I got from this article as well. The article also stated that the guys didnt like sitting around doing nothing waiting for the rig to get fixed. This sounds liek a reasonable temporary fix to the issue. As long an extra truck is dispatched as well as the pickup.
  8. If she had full coverage she would probably be going after the city for her deductible. In this case, I agree that someone should pay for the damage to her car. If the fire is ultimately found to eb arson, and someone is convicted, that person should pay. In the meantime, perhaps the city should pay, and then collect from any persons possibly convicted.
  9. Interesting. I dont remember taking a written test.
  10. What written test?
  11. You can never have enough "wench"es, eh? On a serious note, I didnt see any winches in the pics. Do you have two mounted on the truck, front and back, or the removable style that fits into a drawbar?
  12. Easy there, kid. If you cant answer my question, why did you respond?
  13. What is the PPE for packing up/rehab?
  14. It looks very similar to one I've used as well.
  15. Not been yet, but I imagine I will venture out to the New Shea Stadium at some point this season.
  16. Fully agree. How is someone getting picked because of his race not discrimination against the person that wasnt hired?
  17. I'm actually surprised that it doesnt happen more often. My guess is that it does, buf often times gets addressed internally if possible.
  18. How big is your mailbox that that oversize check will fit ?
  19. I might head down there to see a taping. It's always entertaining to watch these folk.
  20. Thats for sure, but after 10 am it is as close as we are going to get, i'm afraid.
  21. I never said hello. In my opinion they are on par with Diamond Dave. All they do is what Howard was doing years ago.
  22. I really hope not. We finally got Booker back, and now theyre going to change formats again?
  23. I definitely see where you are coming from, but am going to have to disagree. I guess it is just because I am more curious than you. Thats what it boils down to, I think. People who may have com across soemthing going on, and are looking for soem more information on what was happening. That is one of the goals of this website, i thought. To spread information. I was on 287 a couple of weeks ago, and going through White Plains, we saw a large amount of smoke. When I got home, I was going to post asking what was going on in downtown White Plains, that day, but I saw that there was an IA about a workign job already. I personally don't see any problem with these types of posts. Now the LE posts, I can agree with you on, especially for ongoin gincidents or investigations. After the fact though, I dont see any problem with posting what information has already been released to the media.
  24. My guess, is the second guy was trying to get through on the first guy's token.
  25. But dont you need to make a new thread to ask about an IA, since we cant reply to an IA? It would bother me too to have someone call the station or question me on scene about an incident. But isnt that what this site is for? Isnt that why Incident alerts are posted? To get info out and for people to ask questions about incidents? Obviously there are going to be instances where some info cannot be shared, that goes without saying.
