The city of Rome central fire station features a giant LCD screen on the top of the building that shows a recruitment video, over and over and over. Date: 07-22-08 Time: 1400hrs Location: Hudson River- off Alexander St. Units Operating: YPD ESU Marine #1, Truck 3; Empress Description Of Incident: Male entered the water south of the city pier near the sculpture garden, possibly to go swimming, and was pulled out into the channel and 1/2 mile north of the City Pier. Date: 07-21-08 Time: 0545hrs Location: 7400 block Zephyr Place X South Big Bend Blvd. Departments: Maplewood PD, Missouri State Police, St. Louis County Police; Maplewood FD Description: FD and PD arrived for a vehilce fire and were fired on by a suspect on arrival. A 22-year old rookie firefighter was shot and killed. (2) Police Officers were shot and transported, (1) critical. Suspect barricaded in a home and set it on fire. PD called in an armored vehicle from a near-by military base. Do you read the part about nearly every one of those animals shot were injured, rabid or vicious and it was done by a trained ESU officer with permission of a supervisor? Or the part about the animals being wildlife such as skunks, raccoons, deer or vicious dogs attcking or that had attacked a person? Yeah, I must have missed that part too.

Saw it at midnight last night- it's incredible. Off the wire today- "BURBANK, CA, July 18, 2008 – Just past the stroke of midnight, Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Dark Knight” broke the record for a 12:01 a.m. film opening, earning an unprecedented $18,489,000 at the box office, it was announced today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. That total does not include the grosses from the subsequent 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. showings. The 12:01 a.m. grosses soared past the previous record of $16.9 million, which had been held by “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” since May of 2005. “The Dark Knight” also surpassed Warner Bros. Pictures’ own studio record for midnight showings, previously held by “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.”
