The Canon 20D has a number of defects that Canon will honor repair under thier 1-year warranty. These include: -Pop-up flash. It is prone to breaking while popping up or being closed. This will read "Error 5" on your LCD and require the camera be re-started to clear. -Power source problem with Canon batteries. Camera will not power off or read memory card. -Battery grip BG-E2 has a known defect in power supply, which includes showing battery/power symbol reading at half or "bc" when batteries are at full power. The above power problems are also associated with this defect when grip is attached. When contacted about the BG-E2 problem, Canon replied with this email: "We have discovered that when using Battery Grip BG-E2 with EOS 20D, there are cases that, even with fully charged batteries (exclusive battery pack or NiMH battery) or unused AA size batteries, only a few shots can be taken or "bc" is displayed immediately. BG-E2 Battery Grips that cause this phenomenon will be repaired free of charge. Unfortunately, both your camera and battery grip will need to be examined by a service center." This defect is known to Canon and they have had numerous units returned for modification. They have not, however, let buyers/owners know about the defect. Also note- the nearest Canon service center for warranty work is in Jamesburg, NJ- over an hour away from Westchester. If shipped, Canon requires delivery confirmation and insurance. As per Canon, repairs take anywhere from 5-10 buisness days. Also stated in the warranty, cameras will not be replaced with a new unit, but repaired or replaced with a refurbished model.

Newtown Boro, PA Police Officer Brian Gregg One year with the Newtown PD From NBC10.com Two Newtown Borough police officers had arrested 38-year-old Robert Flor on suspicion of drunken driving and taken him to the hospital for blood and urine testing. As hospital officials were about to conduct the tests, Flor, whose handcuffs had been removed, grabbed Officer James Warunek's gun and shot both officers and a hospital employee before fleeing to the garage roof, police said. Police said the man grabbed the gun and started shooting so quickly that the other officer, Brian Gregg, did not have a chance to pull his gun. "After firing five shots from the officer’s weapon, he fled the emergency room. He was chased from the emergency room by another hospital employee. He was ultimately apprehended on the upper floor of the garage," Bucks County District Attorney Diane Gibbons said. Gregg, who has been working for the Newtown Borough Police Department for one year, died. Warunek, who also has one year on the job, is in good condition. Authorities said Flor fled the scene after the shooting. After an all-out manhunt, he was found on the top floor of a nearby parking garage, hiding in a car.
