http://www.nbc5.com/news/10290958/detail.html From NBC5: "The CFD set fire to the third floor in a process they call Positive Pressure Ventilation, which is conducted by putting huge fans in the base of the stairwell. The test marked the end of a two weeklong evaluation to determine just how effective this PPV technology to clear stairwells of smoke can be. "We're looking to create a greater pressure in the stairwell that we designate for evacuation and firefighting and what the fire itself is creating, so we can keep that stairwell clean," said Fire Commissioner Ray Orozco. "We're studying the phenomenon of wind-driven fires that have killed many civilians and firefighters, taking what firefighters have passed down as experience thru the years and creating a manual. This experiment will save lives."

A list of the safest and most dangerous cities overall, as compiled by Morgan Quitno Press, which bases the rankings on FBI figures was released this week. The list starts (#1) with the safest cities and ends with the most dangerous (#370). It's been in the media all week about St. Louis being on top. The good news- Yonkers is #101 out of 370. The bad news is- The list omits too many major cities to be valid. The left off list includes Chicago, New Orleans, Brockton MA, Warren MI, Augusta and Wichita.
