good post YFD910 One of them becomes Chief, promoted from within. Up until they both take the test, a chief can be appointed as provisional. A Captain to Chief, a Lt. to Captain, a FF to Lt., and possibly....a volunteer (who's on the list!!) to FF?? Is there really something wrong with that?? Like I've said before, the test is in June, how many of you volunteers in Larchmont, or all over the county will be taking that test??? All?? Most? Trust me, drive by the testing site and you'll see the Chief Cars outside, the stickers on the windows, blue lights on the dashboards and all the Dept. T-Shirts on everyones backs. Everyone wants to be a FF. this is the 100% truth!

is there a county list for chiefs that they can pull off? or would they have to give a test for that area?

TR54 i have had my tot finder on my door of my apt. for a year now in the location of your drawings you posted along with a union sticker leting the guys know in yonkers that there is a fellow brother along with young children in the apt. i lefty a bunch in my hallway hoping the other people in my building follow and do the same. i think that its a great idea to have them at the bottom of the doors and if used the right way by parents it would greatly help us in searches.

the LT. makes a good point how is this moving backwards? is it moving backwards because the vols. feel like the career guys would be treated different with a career chief? the local gov. in the area is trying to create a JOB isnt that a good thing? what if it leads to more career men isnt that a good thing also? how many of the vols there now would love to get on the job?

i cant see any dept doing this with the amount of power going in through the main service. im going to assume that it is a s.o.g. to call con-ed right away to handle this kind of issue. a 200amp service will more then likely kill you and i dont think any officers from at least a career dept would place himself or any of his men in danger like that.
