Are there any detail? Is it an LODD?

Over the past 2 weeks the FDMV has been under constant fire from people of this forum. 95% of the people who have something to say do not live or work in the City of Mt. Vernon or are even involved in the mutual aid to that city. Why are you all concerend? Will you show up and show suppport for these career brothers if that time ever arises? Will you go into the Mayor's office and demand answers? In all the b.s. written I cannot recall much that states a real concern for the saftey of brothers just a bashing of where they work! Yes the FDMV has issues but we all do. How will the bashing help? Please someone give me a good answer and don't let it be from Texas or Dobbs Ferry! I want to hear it from a brother that is truly affected by all this that these issues brought up on this forum actually helps. Until that happens give it a rest! To the hard working brothers in the Vern I feel for you all and hope your job does get better and just know I have much respect for the job you guys do!!!!! Domenick

Yes the remark was directed at you 100%! I have nothing to hide. Empress is not a city agency and you didn't live in Mt. Vernon! But you have made it a point to always bring up negative issues about the situation. Please show 1 thing that I have not seen about the MVFD that has been positivefrom you.If you do then I will gladly say I was wrong! As for my original post I did not make any claim that the membership was bashed in any way just the the job that work at. As for the job they do I was clear how I felt and would be happy to stand with them anyday in ANY sitiuation!!!! We are all entitled to our own opinions and this is MINE! Does it make me bad guy? Every Department has these issues and no one is going to force them to change as you can see with the new hiring issues!

Ok so all of us have done stupid things but why on earth would the driver of this rig move it with all those people on it? Even if i was given the order to move by an officer i would lock the brakes and have the police come and deal with the repercussions later. Any thoughts? Domenick

i dont think they ran out of Marble! Im pretty sure the stone is at least a mile deep. My family quarried stone in Yonkers for about 80 yrs and its from the same strip as Ridge Hill. The stone is very nice and would be great for lots of applications so if its taken out of the ground the right way its worth big bucks!!!!!!!!!!!

The bottom 3rd of the Washington monument in DC was created with Tuckahoe Marble. Tuckahoe was not the only local area for natural stone.Yonkers is rich with Granite miles deep.

The answer to # 1 is that they dont have to check their rigs everyday! The real question should be why not?

All you members of this HISTORICAL HOUSE that are the ones making a big deal should be the ones keeping an eye on the pile of bricks down there. Im sure the Police have a lot more important things to do like stopping crime! Just ask the city to hire ANOTHER contractor to fence it off then get the loader and some trucks and haul the pile out to a land fill!

Most likely a total loss for the city. Thats the risk they took to move it instead of just knocking it down. If i was a tax payer up there i would be PISSED that this money was lost to try and save this building. What was going to happen to it? was the FD going to use for anything else then shell to look at and hope it didnt fall down and kill someone walking by? What would the estimated cost have been to make it a safe usable building? Now some of you may not agree and that is fine. I just think that the mighty doller at this point in time can be used on more useful things then this!
