Down in Darien Ct. Post 53 (the only totally teen run volunteer ambulance corps in the Nation) they do not charge for any of their services. The VAC only does BLS and ILS so if ALS is needed, they mostly call Stamford paramedics (or Norwalk if they are on the boarder). if those outside agencies come in they will charge the patient. post 53 will handle the bill since they are the transporting agency 95 percent of the time

recently I have been hearing dual tone sirens on ambulances and police cars around when I'm out and about. I think that it was a good idea on paper but I think that they just confuse drivers on the road, making them believe that there is more than one responding unit behind them. what do you guys think of this? here is a example of this siren. this one is made by whelen. but SVP make one as well.

Lately on I95 down here I have been seeing the troopers shutting off the light bar and using the deck lights and rear strobes. (if its in a well light part of the highway) and some of the cars with strobe bars use the rear amber/blue flashers as well as the deck lights. I think thats a better Idea at night when they aren't in areas that are dangerous like bad curves or in an area that is a little tighter than the rest of the highway; and I think they set a slower pattern on the bars now.

In some instances I Agree with you the last generations that followed me have no respect for anyone not even themselves. but do not put all of them in the same basket. their are still some good respectful kids with good hearts and intentions with a desire to achieve and learn joining the ranks of the Service. And someone who was that age not to long ago I do take some offense to your statement above. As for this kid skateboarding; well he got what he deserved. He mouthed off to a cop, and where I grew up thats a no no. you respect the men and women who protect you night and day and to be called dude while on patrol is (in my eyes) offensive. Whenever I talk to a officer while on a call or when they stop in to grab a bite to eat at my job I always great them as officer or sarge or something even if they are one of my friends. so lesson learned from this is to not disobey the law and be respectful to the men and women in uniform.
