  5. in my dept we have three chief's. and if the 1st assistant and the head chief are on scene than any one of them can o inside or do anthing they want. as long as someone whos qualified is in command. but the chiefs are firefighters and if all three are on scene than this is how command is set up. one is outside overseeing the whole fireground. ones with the vent crew and ones inside or both are inside or vise versa. but there firefighters and there damn good at it to be wearin that white helmet. so if they want to go in than bye all means o ahead
  6. since joining my dept almost a year ago i have used both smooth and adjustable/tft nozzles. i perfer the smooth bore in interior attack and fires of that nature. but it flows a hell alott of water. the task force is great for car fires and little room and contents fires. there also good if your running on tank water and your trying to conserve water. theses nozzles are apart of the fire service and there here to stay (this is coming from a probie whos been in the historic fire service since feb) (and yes i have a myspace for my other crap)
  7. thanks for the input on the tower, and i was talking about macks in general but your right its not a cf. but its still a mack.
  8. ok heres my two cents. in todays world where people talk on there cell phones and cant hear sirens like they used to. so people are putting more lights on the trucks thinking well if i cant be herd than im gonne be seen. thats my rational thought. and for my pv im putting as many lights as possible because we cant have sirens. so i might as well blind them into pulling over haha lol but thats why i think there on there. oo and people spec for looks now and not for function.
  9. dfd will still have there tanker and tower ladder i think. but the real mack power house is noroton heights. they have the best mack fleet ive ever scene. they have the second best fleet i town (norotons is better) but mack fire trucks will always be a part of darien. it wouldnt be the same without them.
  10. im in and any other guy from my area will prolly go cause w'd hop on a train

  14. Does anyone have the Rumbler by Federal Signal on their apparatus? We are thinking about putting it on the pickup we have as a trial to see if it really works. It is supposed to give a "feeling" to siren tones. http://www.fedsig.com/products/index.php?id=253 I think it's going to be interesting to see how this trial turns out.

  20. my depts truck is a true truck. buts thats because we have 2 engines in my dept and there are plenty of engines in town of its needed to flow water. quints are a good system if your short on manpower in norwalk(the next town over and were i live) both trucks and there reserves have pumps. they have it to supply there own water and if the engines are out on ems runs(which they do around the clock) than they can act as an engine untill one gets there. but its all up to the depts needs some need them some dont
