from Wtnh.com Colebrook fire chief faces Internet sex charges Colebrook fire chief faces Internet sex charges - by Bob Wilson John Boutin by News Channel 8's Bob Wilson Posted Feb. 28, 2007 Updated 11:55 PM (Farmington-WTNH) _ The man in charge at Colebrook's volunteer fire department faces charge of soliciting a 14-year-old boy for sex. Farmington police made the arrest on Route 4 in the center of Unionville. Investigators say they had been posing as a 14-year-old boy in the chat rooms when Colebrook Fire Chief John Boutin, 49, started making sexual advances at the undercover agent. "The suspect contacted who he believed to be the 14 year old boy and asked for a meeting at a local restaurant to have sex," Lt. William Tyler said. "He was pretty clear what he wanted online? "He was quite explicit." "Did he send any photos of himself?" "Yes, he did send one photo of himself which aided in the arrest." Police say the fire chief showed up at the attempted sexual rendezvous driving a state vehicle. While Boutin is a volunteer chief for Colebrook, he is an employee of the Department of Transportation. Police say the chief used a fire department computer to hunt children on the Internet. They had to come in and seize one of the computers as evidence. "The gentleman was charged with criminal attempt to commit sex assault second degree. enticement of a minor with a computer, and risk of injury to a minor," Lt. Tyler said. Boutin posted $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 6th. http://wtnh.com/Global/story.asp?S=6157607 sr71

i think that this is disgusting!. the goverment covered up the facts on our last line of defence. when we go into buildings with our packs on we assume that everything will pork properly and function. there is no reason except carelessness on the goverment and the companies parts to not make a product that is reliable and it should work. i would like to thank the cdc for not caring. and i pay my respects to the ones who were lost because of this.

this guy is not in a stable state of mind. he shouldnt be responding from so far away. and he had his family in the car? thats not the smartest thing. your risking your whole families life so you can possibly drive a bus to a call that you dont have any chance of making? its not your emergency!!! slow down or in this guys case let another responder go. its volunteer and sometimes your time is already being used up my other commitments. so dont Jeopardize the lives of everyone around you just to try to make a call. its safer to go slowly and get there alive and able to do your job than the alterantive. which is either in handcuffs, on a strecher in back of a bus. or worse in the corners van. so slow down stay safe and remeber its not your emergency

i have always been courious about vehicle lighting and warning systems. and the history behidn the brands. today after looking at tarytowns new chief's car i noticed that the brand of lighting and siren was one that ive never herd of before. the brand is called "sound off Signal" anyone know about this company and is it a quality product? down here in farfield county theres prodominatly whelen, federal signal and alittle code 3. so this is a new brand to me(lol) and which brand out of these (in your opinion) is best thanks sr71

right now there are no plans to replace it, the truck has been refurbed twice in its lifetime and is still fully functional. the community loves the truck, we do all the santa runs in it. its also a great public relations tool also. the truck is up to modern day standards fire fighting wise, all the equipment is modern and up to par. but the truck looks retro and according to osha its not a proper fire truck because of its age but whos counting age when shes sceen more fires than anyother piece in town. its trully a one of a kind peice. so let me break that down. its modern and up to date firefighting wise. thats all practically new. but saftey wise, its alittle out of date. but its lower than the other rigs. so its harder to flip and its slower in speed. if anyone wants to stop buy and get some pics just send me a pm and ill scheduele it for ya free of charge LOL. wed be glad that our fans come to photogragh a piece of history.

thanks for the added info nutty, noroton owns engine 31, the fire boat, and i think the rescue.
-
all three departments in town are 100% volunteer everyone is equal pay $0. the town and combined fundraising, so its half and half. it all depends on what we are buying. and the fire commisioners etc.
-
the town of darien owns most of the apparatus in town. we own rescue 33, truck 35(pickup) and engine 31. so the town of darien owns engine 32, ladder 30. from my dept i'm not sure about the other trucks in town but they own a few in the heights and mabey a few in dfd. im not so sure about the other depts. nutty1 can tell u about dfd. ill get the heights info.
-
if any one was wondering why our engine 31 is yellow and the rest of the fleet, it is because we the department own the truck. and back when they bought it. it was paitned like that to show the town that it is ours. so when your riding past our firehouse and see black over red 30, and 32. but a yellow 31 theres why. our old ladder was also a open cab maxum. but it was red. and our old 32 was yellow but that was a diffrent era. so now the whole fleet is red over black except 31 and thats the story
-
yes we still have this rig in service, engine 31 is our second due engine. if u want some pics let me know ill have her pulled out for ya. shes 30+ years old and can still pump forever. shes a real beast! sr71 noroton fd
