Rekindle????? No such thing... The proper term is "Incomplete Extinguishment". My brothers in Elmsford don't have that problem.
-
I don't mean to Hijack this thread, but since it's the same topic....... Does anyone have Elmsford FD's tones recorded or accessable in an electronic fashion???
-
Your DNS record or server is still trying to direct me (on many machines with different ISPs) to the 'pills' site... Right now I am in Toronto Canada and it still happens.
-
FYI -- Still seeing that hijacked redirect as of 10:04PM.
-
That's the one.... Thanks!!
-
When it doesn't work, if you look in the status bar of IE (bottom left) it shows an odd URL that it's trying to hit -- the domain name is 'wannasomepills.il' or something of the sorts... I will try to get a better read on it the next time it happens. And this is happening on more than one computer. It's possible that there is a problem with the authoratitive DNS server that is hosting EMTBRAVO.com/net whereas is may have been hijacked.

Is 'virtual control' a Windows Service??? If it is, then you can certainly stop it via the command line... You can also program MOST laptops to run pre and post sleep scripts to do just what you are looking at doing.
-
Go to a command prompt (Start, Run, CMD, OK) Type nbtstat -RR then hit enter (make sure that the RR is in upper case) Type nbtstat -R then hit enter Type ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter Type ipconfig /registerdns then hit enter Now try your PayPal site. If it still doesn't work, try rebooting your Internet router... It is possible that there is an erroneous DNS entry in the router from DHCP -- it's worth a shot if the above doesn't work. Good luck.

Some years ago, Elmsford 58B1 (Rescue 13 as it was called then) carried the typical Irons, hand tools, etc.... There was also a compartment dedicated to rescue equipment - we carried the Hurst Tool (power unit, large spreaders, cutters, and ram) as well as a small compliment of cribbing (step chocks and 4x4x12 lumber). Since then, the equipment was moved to Ladder55 and a second Hurst Tool was purchased for either Engine 137 or 237 (can't remember). There were a couple of times when we were returning from the hospital and came across an MVA and had to go to work. Once, we were returning from Phelps and there was a nasty one on 141 (I think that's the road) - since we had just finished an MVA, we all had our turnout gear, so the Jaws were put to use... just to pop a door. This is going back a lot of years. One of the Engines has a full compliment of cribbing now along with airbags and the Jaws. Ladder55 is still carrying the original Hurst Tool.

There is a checkbox under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced that is called "Reuse Windows for Links" (or something to that) that will not open a new window each time you click a link.

As a former EMT and someone who sees a Chiropractor regularly for chronic neck and back pain... I would say that you have a subluxation. Simply put, you torked your neck and a vertibrae isn't aligned.... OR... you HAD a subluxation and when your next cracked, it went back into place and the muscles are in spasm. Either way... if it last for more than a day or so (while taking self-prescribed Tylenol or Advil) then you should probably call a doctor or see a Chiropractor. ****DISCLAIMER**** THE INFORMATION ABOVE IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED (OR MISCONSTRUED) AS MEDICAL ADVICE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM. Elmsford TL21 ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!! Even though I think L55 is my overall favorite ladder truck (I was on the truck committee and was Captain back then)

Good ol' Pat... Having been there, I can say it was one experience I'll never forget. I was on Elmsford Quint 2's ladder pipe for a good couple of hours - the view from above was amazing. If memory serves - there were a few members injured that cold, icy night - though Pat had the most serious of the injuries. Heck - it even started snowing at a point during the fire... but the flames kept us all pretty warm!! Anybody got more pictures????

See -- everyone gave you pretty much the same advice --- relax and wait.... Patience paid off for you. Yes, you should appear very interested to join. No, you shouldn't appear significantly overzealous and super anxious to join. Congrats on the response!!! Good luck and remember to listen to those older and hopefully wiser. You can learn a lot from the 'old timers' if you let the speak and let yourself listen.

Be patient. He may only check his mail at the firehouse on weekends... he could be away on business... he could do all of his reply e-mails on Friday night... he may have even passed your message to a membership comittee....... Patience is a virtue - trust me.

I saw them in Albany -- Incredible show. Check out this website -- LEGAL soundboard recordings from ALL of their shows!! http://www.themusic.com/encore/genesis2007/ I already got mine. Sounds unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well... unfortunately, the BEST instructor for EMT classes passed away last week (Ray Thompson), but I'm sure that you will have a great instructor. Here are some tips, tricks, and pointers in no specific order: - When you walk into that classroom, you know absolutely nothing. This is not to insult you - just to remind you that whatever you may have learned in the field by watching your fellow members is not going to always benefit you on the written and practical exams. Watch, listen, and learn from your instructors - they will teach you EVERYTHING you will need to ace the exams. - What you see on TV is 99.44% BS. Forget it exists and laugh at it when you learn the right way to do stuff. Kinda like in the movie Backdraft - lots of fire, no smoke??? 'nuff said. - If you have a question, ASK. The dumbest question is the one not asked. - Don't act like a know-it-all... Whether you're FD or EMS, you can and WILL learn from those around you. Everyone has stories -- and most everyone beefs up their own stories to make them sound better. You are who you are. - After the first few class sessions, you may feel (over) confident to jump in on calls in your dept. Remember, you're not yet an EMT. You're a student. Be very careful. Don't take anything upon yourself regardless of what you THINK you can do. - Don't be a showoff to your friends. You could make a real fool out of yourself. - DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID!!! All these things sound like negatives, but in reality, they are all the truth. You will be the best EMT you can be if you take it all seriously and as if YOUR life depends on it - one day, one of your classmates may need to render aid to you. When you pass your tests (and you WILL pass your tests), do yourself a favor and sit back and watch/learn from your fellow EMTs. Find someone (an EMT) that you are very comfortable with and ask him/her to work with you for several weeks. During my days in Elmsford, we tried not to give new EMTs 'free reign' as soon as they pass their exams - we tried to precept them with senior EMTs to ensure that they were not only comfortable with doing their jobs, but to ensure that everything was being done properly. It worked out well -- in fact, I precepted 2 of the 3 chiefs currently in office in EFD several years ago. One more thing: when you pass your tests and start treating real patients, think about what they're going through at that moment in time. They're likely scared, hurt, and possibly unaware of their surroundings. Aside from having great medical skills, you also need to have compassion for the patients. You MUST have a good bedside manner at all times. OK - when dealing with the drunks, you can have a little fun (spaceship rides go over great). Again, think of it as if you were the patient - do you want a prick treating you?? 'zactly. Good luck on everything. Take whatever advice that I have given that you want... I'm sure that a lot of other Bravo'ers are thinking the same things I said. Jeff.

Is there a prize for having this information??? Oh well -- I'll give it to you anyway... In 1972, Quint 2 was being assembled at the American LaFrance factory in Elmira, NY. It was the only lime yellow piece of apparatus being built in that facility at the time (this is important - just read on). Hurricane Agnes decided to pay a visit to Elmira right at the time that ALF had finished painting each of the body parts individually... Well, the flood waters rose higher and higher... and there was news footage and pictures of it too... And all of a sudden, floating down the road were the lime yellow fenders to Quint 2. Now remember - this was the only non-red truck being built at that time -- what other truck could these parts belong to??? So ALF did their thing after the floods subsided.... the parts were all recovered... and were PUT ON THE TRUCK!!!!! Yup. You read it right -- they put the formerly submerged parts, including the frame, all together and delivered the truck. Now mind you, this is how the story was told to me during my time in the Department -- I believe it to be at least 99% accurrate. The Quint was referbed once to abate the rust, but over time.... and age... and needs....... In 1994 Elmsford took delivery of a new Quint 2 - a Pierce 100' Aerial Platform with pump and all... Nowadays.... you know it as Elmsford Tower Ladder 21. For a short time, the current Ladder 55 was named Quint 2, but with the county's naming requirements, Ladder 55 it is. Happy New Year...

Looks to be a 1972 ALF Quint.... I would say that it's now in New Hampshire and was initially Elmsford Quint 2 - nicknamed Agnes. If I am correct it was the first non-red piece of apparatus in Westchester. Of course a bigger picture would be more helpful though.

Has anyone found out what the COD was??
-
A sad day for all of us that knew Ray and learned from him. Condolences to Carol, Tracy, Gene, and his grandchildren. Jeff.

Check out Elmsford's website also - there are a few more there...... www.elmsfordfd.com

It's been happening to me in Wappingers Falls for about 6-8 weeks (give or take a day) but presumed it had to do with my DNS provider (OpenDNS). When it does happen, the error is a 500 Server Error. Next time it happens, I'll send you the exact error and possibly the IP address of the destination web server (your site is hosted on about a dozen or so front end servers).

Is this forum exactly for questions and concerns like what SRS posted?? Seriously -- it is much better that it be posted here and not on pojonews.com or 7online.com, isn't it?? Why must a member of this forum be chastised for asking a legitimate question?? One that has the potential for being the difference between life and death?? What am I missing??? As an officer of any FD in the area, I would want to know these answers. Maybe the commissioners and/or board are already aware of this problem. Maybe they are the ones who ordered the Chief of that department to do what he did. The functional word here is MAYBE. It needs to be addresses - I will say it again: IT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH!! And not only the lives of the residents or 'customers' of the FD, but also the lives of your brother and sister fire fighters!! How close is that FAST team?? To all: stay safe and watch out for the Trick or Treaters tomorrow night.

As a tax payer to the town that this particular issue ocurred in, I am well beyond concerned for my life and property. How dare the 'host' department play God based on personal friendships or the good ol' boy network when people's lives are in jeopardy. If an alarm is serious enough to require a mutual aid reposnse, then the nearest qualified department should be the one to respond. And by qualified, I mean one that can provide the staff and equipment. Why, in Dutchess, can't departments call DC911 and say "I need 1 and 1 to the scene and 1 Engine to stand-by in our quarters"?? How, in Dutchess, can departments have appropriate ISO certifications at certain levels, if they pull crap like this??? Response times are one thing, BUT..... This type of BS warrants an ISO re-evaluation. A fire is a fire. If you need manpower, and the department in the next district is 2 miles down the road, and the Chief's buddie is the Chief of the department in the district 6 miles down the road, tough crap!!! You bring in the department that is 2 miles down the road. If you are that hell-bent to bring in your buddies department, invite them also, but not at the expense of my life, my family's life, or my friend's lives. Granted, under special circumstances, you need to bypass your immediate neighbors. For example, if you have a Mobil Super Tanker explode into flames in your district, no matter where you are, you would call DC Airport, IBM's Foam truck, Indian Point's foam truck.... and so on. Been there, done that (in the City of White Plains - a propane truck into a bridge and in Hawthorne with a Mystic gas tanker). Perhaps, since soooo many people heard this particular incident on the radio, that the powers that be at DC911 or Supervisor Ruggiero listen to the tapes of that particular call. What if the Poughkeepsie Journal were to request the transcripts of the tapes (FOIL) and published them??? If the Chief of this particular department is going to be so choosy as to who he invites to his Mutual Aid calls, maybe he needs to no longer be chief!!! It sounds like Ex-Chief is more fitting of a title. Good thing I live in the New Hackensack fire district I guess. And one more thing - SRS is 1000% in the right for posting this topic. One day, YOU, me, or anyone else that lives on this dirt pile named Earth could be driving down Route 9 in the Town of Wappinger and need help, but because one Chief doesn't like the other Chief.... well.... most of you can figure out the rest. Jeff.
