  1. Supercharger? Headers? Exhaust? And to top it off, the Denali package? Maybe for the President. But I don't think any of our local politicians are in need of such a vehicle. Nothing wrong with a base model Tahoe to do the same job.
  2. I sure hope this isn't a government owned truck with the ridiculousness of equipment.
  3. I just cant believe they are importing this thing just for police. No way they are going to make enough profit, I'm sure at some point it will be offered to the public. At that point, it will need to look a lot sharper than the way it does now...
  4. Good luck with the 6.0L Powerstruggle V8... awful engine. Shouldn't be allowed in ambulances with all of the failures on that powerplant.
  5. I had the opportunity to see the NYSP Vehicle Bid for 07, and they appear to be getting 100 Chargers, and 20 Magnums. I assume that they want to give them a try to see how they hold up for them. They are also getting 500 Crown Vics (400 With Lightbars, 100 Slicktops), 200 RWD Tahoes, and 50 4WD Tahoes. I'm sure once the '09 Impala with RWD comes out, they will give them a shot as well. I think the Impala might actually be a better car than the Charger, it sounds as if it will be much bigger!
  6. I think when the new Impala comes out in '09, with rear wheel drive, it'll give the Charger a run for it's money. The new Impala is going to be a foot longer than the current version, with the '08 Malibu taking the size of the current Impala. Should be an interesting couple of years for the police market!
  7. Strobe lights on school buses are option here in New York, but many school districts and contractors get them installed. Here are a few of the operators in the Hudson Valley region who spec them: - Monroe-Woodbury CSD (Wired to the ignition, always on) - Byram Hills CSD (Switch) - Lakeland CSD (Switch) - Bedford CSD (Switch) - Brewster (CSD) - First Student (Wired to the ignition on some, others switch) - Hendrick Hudson CSD (Switch) I work in the bus business, and personally, I think the strobes should be activated only in poor weather conditions, or when making dangerous stops. When the strobes are used all the time, it makes the buses much too noticeable, IMHO. BTW, here is one of Byram Hill's new units, pictured on my website: http://schoolbuscentral.com/gallery/update...h/6_06c2_ny.htm
  8. International in general has been having a lot of issues with all of their products, from the Ford F-350s with Powerstrokes, to school buses, to huge dumps. A lot of it has to do with new electronics related to EPA's emissions standards... but other manufacturers haven't been having nearly as many issues. I'm glad to see DOT trying out Macks. Macks are a great truck, and I'm sure they will work out nice for them!
