i had fios installed yesterday @ home. it is cool. i had the tv, internet, & home phone service installed. I went with the 15 up/ 15 down internet package. It is amazingly fast. It also came with a wireless router so when i get out of the ice age and purchase a laptopn i am good to go. the only issue as of now. my email accounts have been suspended !!!???? i have no idea why.. hmm well off to sit on hold with tech support for several hours.. the tv service and on screen guide is awesome. wish me luck as of now i do reccomend it.

after 17 years in the fire service you think of alot of the weird and unusual things you could see, i could not imagine doing this to my child. i guess because i am a normal individual that love my children.. anyways.. So with the above story, will this make you think differently about the tools you may take with you in your search? What if it was steel chain and not plastic zip ties which would be short work w/ a halligan. What if the occupant is BOLTED to the floor with chains. Both of would pose a serious challenge to any truck search crew and create a serious committment of resources to accomplish the task.. calling in another crew with cut off saw.. calling for an scba for the victim.. the list goes on.. Give this some good thought... i have been in a number of nursing homes to see elderly individuals tied down due to severe dimenia issues..

today i decided to download music... at one point i was downloading 15-20 songs at the same time and it still was amazingly fast.. this is some cool stuff.

Well - tech support was great and walked me through the problem.. it was a "i should have checked that: kind of problem. oh well. lesson learned I am anxious to download a few movies to see how that works.

i have learned thru the years and it has been drilled in my head.. no matter size, const. type, etc - DO NOT ENTER a bowtruss bulding if there is fire impingment on the trusses. Now with that said, I would call this very similar to shotgun bungalow found in the south, but with a bowtruss style construction. As for fire operations: Size up - One Story SFD w/ bow truss roof w/ basment access side delta. I will be back later with operational considerations..

About 10 Years ago our comm center recieved a call that had an extreme language barrier. The dispatcher was only able to tell that they might want fire & ambulance from the call. So he sent the first due company (engine - truck - ems) and police. I was the officer on the first arriving engine and immediately requested the 2nd alarm for fire thru the roof of a hindu temple. Made for a long night. I have to give our dispatchers credit. They send fire trucks to calls that fire trucks need to be on, they never send the police first to "CHECK IT OUT" without sending us. They will put our call out first on the radio before they put it out on the police radio.

I know maryland state police take their cars home. pa state police will also when on a quick turnaround shift. I would not want my name on my cruiser. There are too many goofballs out there.

Extended Extrication Involving Tractor Trailer: Rescue Box 39-16 November 28, 2006 – At 7am Engine 391 and Medic 117 were alerted for a 10-50PI involving a tractor trailer at Shawan Road and I-83. Police officers arrived first and advised the tractor trailer was on its side with the driver trapped. Squad 303 arrived minutes later and began the extrication. The Squad crew utilized the crane to stabilize the tractor trailer and cut the roof off of the truck. The victim’s legs were severely trapped under the dash board which complicated rescue efforts. It took rescue crews over an hour to remove the patient from the wreckage. The victim was flown to Shock Trauma. Hazmat 114 and the Maryland Department of Environment were called to assist with clean up of diesel and oil spillage from the truck. Units on scene: BC11, E391, TOW17, SQ303, IV 395, M117, EMS7, HM114, E14, MDE

it occured here in the Pittsburgh Area as a Corapololis VFD Engine was responding to a call. The crosslay came off, became stuck under a tire, released and flew thru the air, the nozzle striking 2 children, killing one and seriously maiming the other for life. i sell fire equipment and that provoked enourmous amounts of phone calls from area FD's for days and months after the incident to have them ordered for their apparatus.

If i were to guess. The yellow depicts the first xx amount of feet laid out and the red the second xx amount of hose laid out. In regards to the blue and green 2.5 or 3 hose.. the compartment below is for ladders. I know of a department that has the exact hose bed layout design. other comments make sense also. my 2 cents

My fire company Monroeville Fire Co. #5 was first due to this call. www.mvfd5.com It started with a MVC east bound on Interstate I376 w/ 2 people trapped in an overturned pick up. When we arrived there were bystabders aiding the injured victims. One was trapped under the pick up. Other in the pick up. As we were setting up ems & rescue services, Matt (being a bystander aiding the victims), was struck by a drunk driver. This was witnessed by all on scene. Our crews immediately changed direction, split crews, called for mutiple ems units, and worked to aid him. Several of our members were almost hit by that trcuk but were able to move out of the way. Our quick actions, tranport to the local trauma center, and his will & drive to survive saved his life. Since that incident. We immidiately close 2 of the 3 lanes of the interstate so we can work in a safe environment. We use blockers and our town police respond as blockers also. If you look on our website under archives there might be a story about it. Remember.. STAY SAFE.. USE BLOCKERS.. WEAR VESTS.. STAY ALERT !!!

We were offered a class thru the local DEA office. It even provided us some coned hours for ems cert !! Call your local DEA office. Great class - alot to learn from them. PS.. You are sorta sworn to secrecy about the class content. They are a bit protective about it. :-)
