  3. It was great to see so many Fire and EMS Depts come out for the parade today. We couldn't have asked for better weather. Congrats to Live Oak Engine Company on their 100th Anniversary!! Also, congrats to all those who took home a trophy. It was a great day made possible by everyone who helped and participated!!!
  4. Tom at a loss for words?? That is very hard to believe. lol Seriously though, I have have the pleasure of having Tom as an instructor at the training center and he has a vast knowledge of many topics. I am always happy when I find out that Tom is teaching a class I am taking because I know I will walk out of there having learned something from him. I enjoy his posts on here too because of all the experience and knowledge he passes along to us. Congrats Tom!!! You deserve it!!!
  5. I remember reading on this site quite awhile ago about someplace that was offering a CPR Instructor course. Does anyone know of this type of class taking place anywhere or being planned in the near future? Thanks!!
  6. Thanks alsfirefighter! Loved the class and now I'm doing my best to put it to good use. Would like to go over it with you sometime if either of our schedules ever permits it! ha ha
  7. From what I have seen there are more and more departments that are setting up rehab plans for their departments. Some have specific vehicles stocked with supplies solely for the purpose of rehab. Of course many in the fire service still think they don't need rehab, but it should not be an option. It's for their safety as well as those working around them to rest and stay hydrated to be able to continue to perform the job and most important to stay safe!
  8. I am in the process of working with my Chief to put together a Rehab plan for our department. Currently we have water and/or gatorade on every truck, engine and ambulance. We are in the process of getting misting fans, cooling chairs, shelter, chairs, disposable towels and other items that will be put in place and a deployment plan for whenever these rehab supplies are needed. I also make sure that as the temperatures rise I keep a cooler jug filled with ice water in the firehouse available for everyone. Rehab is currently a hot topic and articles can be found in many of the fire and ems magazines. Also, there is a lot of good info to be found online and I got much of my info from feedback I obtained from many on this site. Some departments have really good rehab plans in place. I also took the Rehab class that was offered awhile ago at the Fire Training Center. It had some very good suggestions to take back to my department and build upon.
  9. I'm interested in finding out what departments have either a Rehab Unit or a Rehab plan in place. What supplies do you stock for your rehab? Is this kept on the truck at all times or in a designated place to be taken out in the event of a working fire only? Is the rehab handled by the fire personnel, the EMS personnel or a Ladies Auxillary? I appreciate any info you can give me with this. I'm very interested to know what other departments are doing and what rehab plans they have in place. Thanks everyone in advance for your help!

  22. I have checked out a few tatto shops in the area, but the problem I am having is finding an artist to do the actual artwork for me. I sort of know what I want, but need to see it drawn out before I even consider getting the final tattoo. This will be #7 for me and I am rather picky about how my tattoos look. Let's face it...it is forever! It has to be an original so I need to sit down with someone and toss some ideas back and forth. Know of any good artists out there that can do the artwork for me? Thanks for any help or ideas.
