  1. yes, bedford hills's old engine 197 is there. Last time i checked, it was engine 234 (for pictures and story http://www.bedfordhillsfd.org/index.cfm?fs...iew&News_ID=90). Bedford hills CF also has utility 43 but i have never seen that. Yes it is run by officers but i am not sure how much training they have. I have been there maybe twice and 1 was for a fire (though it was outside the fence) and i have never seen them respond. I also think sing sing has a utility but i don't see it on the county truck list.
  2. well, if you are talking about bedford PD, we have been able to get that from NJ before! It seems asthough you need to be pritty close to stanford to get them, i live in bedford hills, about 15 to 20 mins away and i cant get them even with my discone. so, it really depends where you will be driving and where you live.
  3. all i can say is wow...that is great! some great old school radio transmitions. besides it not sounding as good because they didnt have the tech., it really amazes me how much radio transmitions are still the same.
  4. I am in the next rescue tech class....you guys have to think of it this way, it was dumb to have all those higher level classes before the basic( and prerec. might i add) class. If there was a rescue tech in aug. i am sure they would be full. i know i would have signed up for as many as i could. And another thing is the my rescue tech class is already full so the reason for the lack of people in those classes is not intrest, its just poor planing.
  5. All i have to say is....dude, the article is french...come on
  6. In my mind, the WCAP crash team is the most unknown department in westchester county. Does anyone know how many runs they do a year and what kind. I know they do your normal airport stuff but i am sure they take car fires, MVAs, and alarms. Also, how many guys do they staff? Reason i ask all this is today, the reported plane fire in hanger M, the first chief got on the scene and reported fire knocked down.
  7. ok, 2 questions. first, does anyone use a splitter for an antenna to 2 different scanners? If so, how much does it cut down on reception? I just put one in and it seems to be the same as before but its hard to tell because i just put it in. secondly, what does a filter do? i tryed to figure it out but cant.

  12. love how in the second link the reporter makes it clean that his face was "gouged and scraped". "we're not talking about somone going a few rounds, we're talking about somone ripping, gougeing, scratching, and even biting me". thanks from the dramatics buddy, now stop when people ask you to stop..
  13. the news people there are sooo bad. The one woman is talking about how she has always wanted to stop in the taco shop that is on fire and she is saying how there might be tobaco in the smoke shop that could be burning.
  14. id have to agree. the zipper and velcro i like better because they are quicker and to me, less of a hassle. the snaps and hooks take to much time and are just a pain to me.
  15. HAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!...i agree other then that, the fact that this guy can actualy handle the smoke from a garbage fire...yuck?
  16. Thats what animal control is for. Thats why taxpayers also pay for that. The cat thing is nothing. A while back my dad was telling me about a run he went to, got there and found out it was for a bird stuck in a tree. They went and spent 30 mins trying to get the bird down. Then, when they set up good old snorkel 1, and got close to the bird, it flew down back to its owner.

  18. i think it was chief Paul Gerardi who said somthing like that on the first day of our firefighter 1 class...it was somthing like "fire doesnt give a S*** if you are paid or volunteer, either way, it wants to kill you" as to the shirt, maybe it wasnt a department wide thing, maybe it was just a click of inmature guys who thought they were making a cool Tshirt. what ever the reason though, yeah, totaly uncalled for.
  19. NICE JOB CHIEF...and he got the cat!
  20. EDIT ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ got to it first..lol rescue 1 "still riding" also
  21. HAH, we were all wondering the same thing. i guess since Lake Carmel fast was going to work, they needed a new fast and we were the closest fresh fast team...? not sure how many putnam has but i am guessing its either staffing issues with another fast that is closer or infact after LC went to work, we were the closest.
