I must apologize from my self foremost and my co-worker secondly. From my self first off for apparently not logging out of my EMTbravo account at work and secondly for my co-worker. It seems to me in an unfortunate case of misguidance that their lack of college education and GED high school education has left them with little to no maturity and an even worse vocabulary as well as the grammar of a middle school aged teenager. I for one did not realize that they could spell their own names no less EMTbravo. Not that it matters but i have actually been with the fire department for 4 years now, seen numerous fires, and am halfway done with a BS (bachelor of sciences) in fire science and occupational safety. But enough airing my own dirty laundry and misfortune of high jacked pass words. They bring up a good point. Firefighting isn't for everyone and in many situations i do feel like if you are not scared every once in a while, you should not be (in the case of a building fire) inside the building (or at least i don't want you in with me). This is for the simple fact that if you have no fear/no limits, you will have not respect for the dangers of our job. I am sure many would agree that a lack of respect for the dangers and really the job itself would put ones self and ones crew in serious danger. Anyways, again i am sorry again for the post... One time I got really nervous and had a anxiety attack when we were training but thats because they taped my scott mask so that I couldnt see. maybe im not cut out but i would like to give it a whirl. If anyone can give me tips or pointer please help me out"

I know this is late in the game but we do not need to send in anything beside the app and the check right? it says they will need residency proof and birth cert and such at a later date. When do they look at that stuff?

I've had some pretty great ideas on solving those problems but this is by far the best idea i have ever heard.

Anyone know if you can take the county test and use the grade for the white plains test also? I saw that you could do that the last time they offered the test.

I saw that there was a fire in "Grandma's pies" in Mohegan yesterday. I recall my dad telling me a story one time about an explosion in that building in the late 80s/early 90s. He said that there was a gas leak and when the place blew up, it flattened the entire building. Does anyone remember this? What exactly happened?

What about the people who dont make a wide enough turn and almost take your front drivers side conner off of your car. my biggest problem with drivers is when people dont get into the outside lane on the saw mill so that others who are trying to get onto the saw mill can't. it is the worst when there is a line of cars in the inside lane but none in the outside lane and they wont move over so you can pull onto the parkway.

not at all what i am saying. we have a lot of memebers. not sure how many exactly but when they first started with this idea in 2000, there were about 100 members so i am guessing we have around 50 to 60 who are members and many more interested. so we have team members. the 30 i was talking about is my guess of what would be atleast 30 CRT-A members before we could start to respond. Considering that rockland tech rescue team is needed to be called in to half of the county if somthing happens like the peekskill call a few months ago and it takes 45 mins to get them to the scene, this is not a duplication at all. we have a meeting tonight at the training center. look at the room postings for the room number

As far as I know it will be like the hazmat team. As to the number of guys trained, i am not sure on that. My guess would be at least 30 to start running but remember, there is a lot more to tech rescue then high/low angle rescue. Members have to be trained in trench, building collapse, they said they wanted to do cold water/ice rescue, they mentioned something about wilderness rescue, along with some other odds and ends that people need to be trained on. My guess is they want at least 20 people to be fully certified in the main 3; high/low angle, trench, and build collapse before we start responding. Again though, I am not totally sure. At the moment, I think we have something like 5 or 6 guys who are CRT-A and a bunch who are CRT-B so we still have a ways to go to get everyone trained up.

Yeah, we are up and running. The rescue is a maybe but who knows what will happen. We have short meatings with a training after on last tuseday night of the month (like stated) and yes we have funding and are aproved from the county. they just got us some great gear to use. we even have a battalian chief now who does special opps (tech rescue and hazmat). The team is making great head room and is now getting CRTB in for members who need it. from what i've been told, we will get CRTI and CRTA soon. while i am at it, i want to say congrats to Tim and Tom for sticking with their idea and getting it this far. They have both done alot of work and it is going to pay off.

yeah that doesn't make much sence to bring the Haz Mat back to the fire house now does it. Does putnam even have a hazmat team or does each FD take care of all of that? hey i wonder how the "rectal thermometer" broke in the first place.

Yes, Bedford/Bedford Hills/ Katonah (Town of Bedford) sare a decon trailer and i have hurd that Mount Kisco now has one of their own but the last time we had a mass decon drill, they did not have a trailer.

To me, the only reason they would stay is because they make occupants feel safer knowing there is somthing there. I can't even see how it was ever a good idea (although i dont know the history about these) to pose people this possible option of fighting any fire with these hoses.

Bedford highway department doesn't want the truck anymore. It sat in the same spot ever since we gave it to them so i guess they gave it back...so now as far as i know it is going out to bid. I have heard that bedford village was over looking at it and had some intrest in it but i have no clue how true that is. Few of us were joking because we also have the old 2031 sitting in the parking lot, we could sell them as a package. Somthing like "buy the old 2031, get a free tanker!" and to 10 buff 4, she is a bit rusty and needs some work but yeah, still has a little service time left

i also used to go every year. I didnt think they stoped doing it because of 9/11 though, i thought it was just getting way to tough to set up every year and it was too costly. when i first started going it was all free but i remember i read in the paper that they wanted to start charging people. dont know if they did/are charging. this is going back atleast 6 years ago though so i have no clue now. hahah if you are in bedford hills though, you can drive by my house!
