Dispatcher heard snoring while an emergency was happening... Hopefully the party that had the emergency made out alright on the delay.. http://video.msnbc.msn.com/nbc-news/47519230/#47519230 http://www.firefighterclosecalls.com/news/fullstory/newsid/163309

Hey.. At the 5:17 mark on this second video,, Is that the new "packless airmask" on the guy walking around in the middle.. LMAO.. Man,, is that going to be awsome to have no extra weight on our backs..
-
So that means you aren't going to be the centerfold Munson??? LOL All agencies involved did a great job that day..
-
Very nice!! Question though... Is that all wheel drive???? It looks high off of ground.. Almost top heavy looking..
-
Hey Seth,, Bid was awarded to KME.. It will be a rescue pumper. Sorta like engine 258 but with deeper compartments and some storage up top. There was a great committee put together with career and volunteer together.. Delivery should be toward end of year..

Hey Seth,, Are theses full time or part time positions???? Just wondering for all the full time emergency service people out there that could use a good b-job...

The questions I have are not a critique, I'm just curious: 1. Is this a truss constructed prefab, or a type 5? 2. Is there a basement? 3. Was the home occupied at the time of the fire? 4. How many units responded for the initial attack and what was that manpower number? 5. Was the aerial master-stream used for a knockdown? 6. Were groundladders deployed, maybe to the rear and out of view, or not needed? 4. Is the structure one level on all exposures? Looks like it was a tough one for the first in units. Glad to see there is no info on here about any injuries. Thanks in advance for any reply. I will try and answer most questions.. I am sure someone else can fill in the rest.. #1- No truss-- House was probably built in late 40's to 50's... roof had 3/4 tongue and groove and 2x6 rafters, 16 on center,, so guys inside did have a little time trying to stop spread in attic.. #2- Unknown- I never went into house.. #3- No, homeowners out shopping #4- 1 ladder- Driver only.. 2 engines(257,258) had driver and probably 4+ on each due to Santa candy cane run that day and engine 255 driver only. But there was also some manpower on scene with there POV's upon my arrival (Ladder- First on scene) #5- Yes, but after aggresive attack on garage and interior attack.. Fire was blowing out both garage doors upon arrival and was working it's way into attic area.. #6- Yes, one was deployed in front for venting team (moved away when ladder aerial masterstream used) and one was deployed to rear for secondary escape if needed.. #7- Property was level, so yes it was level on all exposures..

Funny you should say that because Andy was there and had us set them up... LOL.... We took them after we got off the nighshift.. The pics were last minute or I would have gotten in touch with your father.. But I will hook up with him and Joe for better shots and also for rescue 55..

I dont have any pictures of the bikes. Which are very nice and all the work was done by the officers (lights, sirens, radios etc.) But here is a picture of the new officers and Sgt. Joseph Getraer.. Best of luck to you guys.. You did an awsome job to get this up and running..So keep the shiny side up and be safe..

Simply put in a dispatch would be (and i'll use my dept as an example): "60-control to Yorktown Fire and Mohegan your FASTeam, 1200 Old Crompond Rd for a possible structure fire" Well, first of all, you have it backwards.. Yorktown doesnt cover any parts of Old Cromond Rd.,, Its all Mohegans!! Sorry Verg LOL,, You better invest in that GPS dude.. Otherwise they will have to call you Ferguson junior... Remember where Sparkle Rd is...LMAO But I do have to agree with some of your post.. We really should be looking at things to save time on responses from the mutual aids,, espec. daytime!!!

Hey Jody, Good luck!! Here is a link for an articale I found online, about the NH 20 and the judge involved!! http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/06/28/ne...-for-sotomayor/

The truck was a used Snap On truck out of PA. Its a 1990 Chevrolet ( not sure of body). The members of YHFD spent many countless hours gutting the inside and building individual lockers for each member as well as installing extra seats, storage compartments and putting radio's, lights and other electrical items on it. There will be pics of the inside soon. Kudos to the YHFD dive and water rescue team for their hard work and dedication.

And this is funny why??? Lets see now, Rye had a large brush fire today and Somers had a structure fire today, that led into a very large brush fire. HHHMMM, I think the warning is something to keep a head up on.

Yes it is a Pierce. It was a twin of 274 (sold years ago). This engine was the one that rolled over returning from a call in mid 90's. It was converted to a source pumper. It has a 3000 gallon folding tank and 4 lengths of hard suction. Also its 4 wheel drive.

Something to ponder on all of this. What happens when the fire district and/or fire company is a non-for profit and does not have to pay property tax and school tax. These entities might come after you now for taxes (school, town, county tax). What will you do then?? Alot of departments own alot of property and most are in commercial zones. Do you know how much they will kill you on these taxes. Might not be worth it!!! Something to think about!! Just my 2 cents!!!

Mohegan Fire District has not purchased a brush truck. They are starting a committee for a new engine. It must be the casino's in CT.

It seems that Campbell Supply has taken over part of Hendrickson Fire Apparatus in New York, Kaza Supply in Pennsylvania and maybe PL Custom in New Jersey as New Jersey Emergency Vehicles website is down and no longer available. Pl's website still up, at least for the rescues!!!!! http://www.plcustom.com/RescueHome.asp
