I understand the reasoning behind limiting the posting on the police protected forums but what does every one think about being able to at least read what problems or issues that they face? The problems that they face might be the same as ours and we could learn alot from them, they get to see our side of the issues y can't we do the same? It is in a way limiting the very reason this site was estabalished to share tactics and learn. Just my 2 cents Casson jr.

Ok here is one for you, and a pet peeve of mine. When does your agency have ems dispatched for a report of a working fire? I recently attended a job, a working 2 car garage fire fully involved on arrival by fd exposures were of course cars a unattached house and snow mobile storage trailer, the chief a very calm guy had 1 company to the scene for an engine or tanker can't remember which another to the scene for fast truck and a stby co in their quarters, I called ems dispatch after 20 mins of fire ops and was told ems was not dispatched until the second alarm. I'm not sure what other apparatus comes on a second for this co but no ems at a fairly large working fire seems like a liability and saftey issue here.? Ok. so here is the second part to the question, what do u feel the correct ems response is, I believe 2 B.L.S. and 1 A.L.S. 1 bls for M.O.S. 1 for reg people and a paramedic all on scene in my opinion not over kill but u can take care of any thing almost w/this alotment Now i'm not saying have them dispatched to car fires (although NYC does that) but on scene w/any woking structure should be automatic ems dispatch not "2nd alarm"

ok i looked over all of ur posts and it seems as if the security guards @ the university and u metioned forham university and they have thier own ambulance ordered ems to take the pt away so the possibility exists that the university emts../students...in order to save them selves the hassel took the pt to the hospital as ordered instead of doin a proper exam.....and by the way ny state says legaly any persons to have ingested any alcholic beverage is said to be "altered mental status" but like any good emser will tell u use ur clinical judge ment buts sds as if the scared techs just did as ordered because of security i really don't know the story and yes u left to many details out....sorry.....

Why is this so hard to understand?..........Bottom line it!!........ if a certain hospital has a speciality deferal and ur pt is stable enough to transport them another 5 mins in nyc's case then DO SO!..... I personaly have driven right passed hosp 25 jacobi med ctr to take an amputee to hosp 29 monti so just do whats right by the pt don't take them to a hosp that has no stroke protocal for example take them to a hosp where thrombolitics can possibly be admin depending on the bleed that hosp already has estabalished guidlines and speciality teams on call ur all making this way to complicated.........make ur own decisions........... GUIDELINES........GET IT? Do ur job!!! Be a pt advocate!!!!

I wish there was a way to go back to tac ambulances sometimes, it would be a welcome change of pace instead of always doing the sick jobs and hearing another unit get the inhale, it gets fustrating knowing a trained unit is out there and availble but still the job goes to a regular bls.......sorry i'm ranting....... Any "diversion" status in N.Y. state is done on a "Please don't come here" kind of thing. New York state law pt's Bill of Rights sts u can take the pt any where they request (the pt must be stable of course) no matter diversion status and that hospital has to accept them....now it's up to u to tell the pt that the hospital they request is on diversion and they may not be seen in a timley fashion (like 10 hrs) because the hospital is over burdened now this applies to "psych" pt's and "normal" pt's who have decision making capabilities and u feel that ur not in harms way.....if u are then the closest hospital applies. I let no one tell me other than the pts which hospital I should choose and as usuall every situation is different but generaly thats what i follow.

When i'm taught w/ respect i give it back 50 fold as 1 of those past and probaly older "hyper Juniors" and now an instructor I can tell u the "older" members who took the time to "Teach" me and not belittle me got so much more in return, people need to learn: to get respect 1 must give it. Yes i agree people must learn their place but if u approach the situation w/ respect for the individual and the fact that they are eager to learn then both parties will benifit. I tell u from first hand experience that those who gave me no respect got none.......while the end result rarely benifited me i still stuck to my morals and gave what i got AND GAVE IT BACK TEN FOLD AS FAR AS RESPECT so what we all need to do is remember we all are human and make mistakes and the ways of old (chastizing and belitliting) don't work any more, treat junior members as adults and they Will REALIZE THEIR PLACE. O and not every 1 agrees w/ everything that is said, like babies, juniors need to learn from their mistakes in propper fashion You would not yell @ a baby for getting up to learn to walk and falling NO....U help them up and teach them u encourage them in a proper manner.......I believe i have made my point.......
