So what would be different if an incident alert had been created for the shooting in Arlington and someone out there was listening? I don't see the point. If that is the case and people can't ask questions why is this site even here? You might as well get rid if the incident alert section also. Yes, I find it a little odd that someone wanted more info than what was in the paper about it, but that's what makes this site good, people from all walks of life involved in public service asking questions. I was just looking through the site and moose wanted more info on a fire in Port Chester.

www.pojonews.com article in yesterdays paper about the shooting. It is in the police and court briefs section.

Nathan we at AFD know where you live! LOCK THE DOORS TO THE PLACE....... LOLOL

I have to agree. The guys on the nozzle pray for jobs like that. K/D the fire, in and out. A little overhaul and go back to the station. From the pics didn't look like a line could not have taken care of it. I don't think you would have lost the house as stated in a previous post.

Don't want to beat this thing to death, but I was looking at the picture that robert benz posted with the firefighter holding the hood, and it made me think even a little further. The gentleman in that picture had his wedding ring on, and that made me think of my wife and kids. I want to be around for them ,and see my kids grow old and see my grandchildren. And retire healthy. Just a thought. Be safe!

Andrew, Get on the stairmaster and the treadmill, or go for a run around the Valley and do some strength training. I think I still have the book from F.D.N.Y. from when I took the physical agility test if you want it. And try to pace your self when doing the circuit.

That hood is now no good to you. You can now check the oil in your car with it. That hole no matter how big compromises that garment and will not be as effective god forbid if you get into a situation.

Just a few things I wanted to add. Color of smoke tells you allot. Visibility in the building tells you some things. Smoke condition as in, how far it is banked down and how much heat is accompanied with it. If you are not sure how hot it is because of so called encapsulation I.E. GEAR. Pull your wristlet back and put your hand up in the air, a little bare skin will tell you the difference. The TIC is a great tool. But it is just that, A TOOL. Don't forget the basics.BE SAFE AND STAY LOW !

Not sure I get what you mean by that. Getting in too deep? You should be putting the training and experience you have to work for you and monitor conditions in the enviroment you are in. You can also get burned through the hood. Dont get me wrong, things go wrong, but if I miss something , I want that protection. And when those ears start to burn, oops too late.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

YES I DO!!!!!

I don't mean to start an arguement by any means, but from what I have heard about this product the conditions have to be just right for it to work. I have heard that some departments have had some success with it. The demo that was given at the Dutchess County Training center did not go very well and the Departments that were there were not impressed.

I saw Jeff last year at a golf outing at Patriot Hills Golf Club In Stony Point. If you didn't know Jeff and his story, you would never know how badly he was injured and that he broke as many bones as he did. Great guy and always has a smile on his face. What is also amazing is that more brothers did not loose there lives on this horrid day. Just goes to show you that things are not as they seem. The rapid onset of heat and smoke overtook these guys and it must have gotten really bad up there for them to be bailing out for there lives. The building alterations are what attributed to these guys bailing out and some dieing. Just to hear Jeff tell the story is chilling to the bone. An even bigger miracle is Eugene Stolawski from Ladder 27, and that he is even alive. God speed to all these Brothers.
