Because I have taken the test and as I said the more tests you take the more familiar you are with the questioning . Sorry for trying to help. Don't get mad at me.

66 Alpha I totaly agree with you, some are just good test takers. As I have said before, it took me a long time and several tests to get on the job. F.D.N.Y. TEST twice, Dutchess county fire test three times, Ulster county fire City of Kingston 1 time and then got hired in 2001. I was on fdny list since 2/98 list 7029 and didn't even hear from them until 2001 but was on the job already. My opinion also that it will not go anywhere and it is just that, to make you feel better about not doing well on that part of the exam. The more tests you take the better you get at it. When I took the F.D.N.Y. TEST I thought it was very very easy. The physical is where they weed most of the people out. I talked to a retired F.D.N.Y. fire marshall and he said that after this graduating class he heard hiring will be slowing down. If you want it that bad no matter how good a test taker you are you will put in the study time and shine on test day.

I did see a stat flight crew a Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie on Monday they did not have on their "Red jump suits" it did say STAT on the back of the shirts they had on. I think they were blue. They went out to an Ambulance I am not sure if it was a ground transport or if they were just bringing them to the pad. I didnt pay a lot of attention . Hope that helps. They transported a 5 year old to Westchester.

I have known John Murphy for 20 years and he is a close family friend. I couldn't think of a better person for the job, he brings a wealth of experience to the 911 center as a past dispatcher, County Fire Chief and Commissioner. Congratulations Murph it is well deserved

I used to use a Radio strap (BUFF BELT ) but I always found them to be a pain. Like some guys said, they sway, they move when you bend over if not warn under the gear. So after some thought I started using the pocket on the front left side of my turnout. For me it just works better, you have easier access to the radio to change channels or to change banks. I just run the cord around the back of the coat and the microphone is on the right shoulder/chest clipped to a small beaner. I always thought it was a pain to get to the radio under the turnouts to change the channel or to adjust the volume. It would also get in the way of your mask and if you wear a box light plus a radio on the outside. Some like it, just not my preference.

I also like to take pictures in the Dutchess County area also to keep the Arlington professional firefighters site currant.(www.arlingtonpffa.org) I buffed a fire scene last year where people were reported trapped camera in hand. I was there for about 5 minutes, searches were in progress and the next thing I knew the brothers came up the staircase with two victims. I can honestly say I had a sinking feeling in my stomach and stoped clicking. I didnt feel it was right to keep taking pictures and did not want to portray a bad image to the public. Just be smart out there, stay out of the way, and be safe. If the police or a Chief dont want you to take pictures they will tell you.
