  2. Paul and Kara congrats, I have one question though? You asked Dongo to be in the wedding? LOL ,STAY SAFE BROTHER SEE YOU SOON AT THE GYM. Tell your little bro I said hello..... Don
  3. I hear ya brother. I would not have a problem with your Father using the pass or the spot because he has a legit reason. The time that is so vivid in my mind was at Chilli's on the south road in Poughkeepsie aka rt9. A brand new Corvette was sitting in a handicap spot on the take out side. Two young people came out seemed to be without any disabilities got into the car and left. Boy did I want to say something , but didn't because I was on duty.
  4. My take on it is , if is a Tahoe, Suburban, Police vehicle etc, you can park in the parking lot just like everyone else . Those vehicles will fit in parking spaces. Now having said that, Ambulance , Rescue truck, Ladder, Engine if you are just running to a business and your partner is in the vehicle I still don't think it should be done because the public seems to get annoyed.I am just as guilty as the next guy and I know it. But being in an emergency zone for a half hour is a little excessive. I will say I never park in front of a hydrant at work or in my POV. The one that really creases my shorts is a little off topic but here goes.... Being a parent of a severely handicap child, some people who seem to be fine, and have handicap passes or plates always seem to park in those spots and just don't even care. When my daughter isn't with us we don't use the handicap pass or parking spot, because we know that they are for people who have real problems. It's the person who parks there and walks perfectly fine into the drug store, Chilli's ,or the mall. Pisses me off just a little.
  5. I was wondering how the Pleasantville Fire Department likes there Ferraras. My vollie department is looking into them to replace possibly two engines. Looking for positive and negative input.
  6. How many Tillers did Yonkers have back then? I can see a few in the picture.
  7. Does anyone know where the city gets the command cases for major incidents? Brief case style with the fold down legs, and who makes them.
  8. Yes, last night. Very cool show. They do alot of winching, blocking and change of direction pulls. The show last night they had to take the wheels of a trailer and finish cutting a roof to get it out from under an overpass. They cut the roof with a k-12 and used cables and chains to stabilize the trailer before towing it.
  9. Or all the Chiefs in the district go to the mutual aid call........... enough said
  10. In my opinion a portable command board makes you more versatile. Like you said Dan, you might not be where you want to be if it is fixed to the vehicle.
  11. Very nice looking vehicle. I love the red, there is just enough gold leaf to give it a simple but classy look. Not to gaudy just enough lettering and striping. Good luck with it.
  12. I have to say those guys looked good, and that SEAGRAVE was spotless! I just heard Pleasant Valley Fire won most men in line with 50 Firefighters and second best appering non regulation. Because if you are not first you're second, OR LAST, OR THIRD, OR FOURTH. LOL
  13. Who won what at Millbrook? If you didn't have fun it was your own fault. Any pictures?
  14. For as long as I can remember it has always been that early. And I don't know why. Mabe they want you all loobed up so you spend more in the bullpen on drinks and gambling?
  15. PVFD.................
  16. I remember that , we had a few pops on top of 55. That was a long day and night. I will look for you today at lineup, we will have a few more pops to celebrate the 100 years of service for Millbrook!!!!!!
  17. Should be a lot of fun as usual. It will be my sons first parade. 129k are you marching?
  18. Chief, I am not sure but Pleasant Valley just finished a hand tub last year and I am not sure where it was from. I will ask Rich Berger and find out. It might be the one you are looking for.
  19. I think that there are several reasons for the volunteer ranks not being what they use to be. Parents working two jobs to keep up , not having enough time to volunteer in addition not having enough family time. Not having the time to go to classes that are made mandatory by the fire department. Or some people just don't care enough and think someone else will do it.
  20. I will try to have my wife get some more pics of the rig going down the street and post them.
  21. Very cool. Will we see it in the Millbrook Parade this coming weekend?
  22. HOT HOT HOT..... Not the first time and wont be the last. Rig placement is important, I have seen this happen a few times in Dutchess. The departments shall remain nameless.
  23. Same thing out here in Millbrook. I was at work yesterday and called home and told the wife to take the kids in the basement. Very windy and a lot of hail stones, then came the rain. Never lost power. Is it me, or are the storms getting worse in this part of the Hudson Valley?
  24. The thing I find funny in the article in the Journal is the morons that put the comments siding with the driver of the vehicle. My feeling is if they are available , have the police close the road. People still get mad, but I think some feel they don't have to listen to the fire police.
