I can remember in the late 80s early 90s seeing three Volunteers with red metro helmets on a line spraying water at a fire on South Cherry street just in on the right from Main Street. Why did this article hit the papper? Does this individual have a personal agenda?

Dan, you can go to the SNAP N WEAR website and look for the quilted jacket lined or unlined. Style #3000 quilted jacket.

To Mr Murphy, I do agree with you to some extent. But the fact is that Volunteer squads in the county have trouble getting out. I do realise that is not the case all the time. I just happen to be working today and I am on the unit you are speaking of 32-72 32-87. And just so we are clear our on scene time was 14 minutes not the 20+ minutes you claim. Yes it is also true that the bls portion can be covered by a closer bls unit. I think Lagrange was giving there ambulance a chance to get out while Arlingtons medic was in route. What do you mean by'' SO CALLED PAID DEPARTMENTS"? If you are man enough to put your name at the end of a post put the names of the departments involved, and by your profile we can see that you are a member of Union Vale. Don't just put "PAID" OR" PAID DEPARTMENT".

When Poughkeepsie gets a working fire and the signal 10-75 is transmitted ,Fairview comes mutual aid with the F.A.S.T. team. When a 2nd alarm is transmitted off duty personnel can come back to work, and other mutual aid equipment is sent ,some Career, some Volunteer to the scene or to cover city stations. Ex: Highland, Arlington ,Roosevelt ,Hyde Park.

Arlington 32-46 at work.

The smoke from this fire went as far as South Grand ave and Hooker ave. I was driving 32-11 to the fire and at one point we had to slow down because the smoke got so bad by Adriance ave and Hooker ave. What a job!!!!!!

I didn't know they still had that rig. Then again I haven't been to the new HQ yet. Looks like the kids had a great tour. Dan did Andrew stay and work for the rest of the shift? Looks like he could give Cronk a run for his money..... LOL

Back in 2001 Pleasant Valley hired Career staff from 07:30 hrs to 15:30 hrs Monday to Friday, and back then it was $50,000.00 per man per year and they hired 3. Starting pay was $28,500.00 benefits included. With the increase in health insurance and depending what the pay scale is that number seems low to me also. The guys are there during the day time because of Volunteers working. The volunteers cover the calls nights and weekends.

I was working for the United States Posatal Service in Rockland county village of Suffern. I was listening to KTU on my walkman when the dj said holy sh#! a plane just hit the world trade center. We turned the radio on in the office and we all listened to the coverage. Then the second plane hit, then the pentagon, then the plane went down in P.A. We still went out on our routes but they came out and got us and sent us home.. It was the nicest day and also the quietest. As I was on my route I wondered how many firefighters mail I was delivering, and how many of them were not coming home.......very sad. Lt. Andy fredricks Squad 18 was from Suffern. It was 3 pm when I got on the thruway to come home and I hardly saw 1 car going south. Just state fire vehicles.

It is a true tribute to the Brothers of Rescue 2 and the NYC Fire Department every time the rig goes on a run. R.I.P.

Yes, but not right away. 32-16 was first due because they were on another run , and 32-16 does not have a T.I.C.

Here again a resident that dosen't know what they are talking about. There was no pressure or water problems. The guys got in quickly and only had 5 Firefighters on arrival. It was a very hard stretch into the appartment and the guys had to look for it. The appartments had a weird layout. When they finally got through the living room they were met with intence heat. They finnaly found it in the back 2 bedrooms and knocked it down. There were smoke detectors in the halls and they are hard wired into the electric, I saw them, and the lights were still lit. Arlington hit the first plug they passed on the way to the building. The city was asked to hit the plug on Corlies and put the bucket up and streach two more lines. As far as alarms going off ,the resident in this article should complain to the complex about why in an appartment building that houses 16 families, why isn't there a automatic fire alarm system? No 129K , We got called back for a little o.t.
