AMR Vegas has a few C3500 not the big medium duty jobs. The crews I have talked to about them love them because there is a lot more room in the front cab which makes keeping street corners warm much easier to handle. They also said that they really get up and move.

I just saw pictures of the 08 E250/E350. Almost NO info associated other than 08 model year. Looked as though they raised the front of the hood a bit (to accomadate diesel maybe). Looks very much like the new F series front. Will try to find a link to the pictures. EDIT: Found it. 4.6 V8 standard on E 150/250. 5.4 V8 standard on E 350/450 with the 6.8 V10 an option on the E 350/450. There are some pictures on the website. I can't imagine that AEV would be the one dropping the E series. I think they have an exclusive contract with AMR to build ambulances (or at least did) which have only ever been on E-350/450 chassis and I can't imagine them wanting to give that up cause I sure don't see AMR going to medium duty trucks. I have NO info one way or the other but I would gather that if AEV says the E series is going away its Ford stopping production and not just AEV not using them anymore.

I work 48/96 in a 1 station department that runs approximately 2000 runs a year. Not crazy busy by any definition. It can be rough if we get a couple of after midnight calls the first night but can usually rotate off the rescue so we don't get it 2 nights in a row unless of course multiple calls come in while the first out is on a call. Everyone here loves it because everytime we go home its a 4 day weekend! Overall its not more hours if you already work 24's. You just work your shifts all at once instead of 24 on /24 off followed by a 4 or 6 day once a month or so depending on the exaxt schedule which is the norm on the west coast . It can be a little long to be away from home, but then being home 4 straight days seems to keep everyone in the family sane.

As new as the one pictured on LVHEAT is (<than 5 years as a guess)....this one is a BRAND NEW one. Less than a few months old...Engine 24 also has a new rig set up for haz mat with a decon shower...I heard Heavy Rescue 21 is also getting a new heavy similar to the haz mat unit. Unfortunately I know nothing else about them and don't live close enough to get any pictures.

Its not that common in vegas. I worked for AMR Vegas for 7 years and never ran a call on someone over 500lbs. Both AMR and MedicWest in Las Vegas were REQUIRED under their new franchise agreements to purchase so called Bariatric units. But every 911 call/transport that a 500lb plus patient has will probably result in an extra transport when is comes time for that person to go to rehab or home.
