  1. Exactly! I've seen guys in the past that aced the physical aspect of the test and write a 82% on the written part which placed them around 118 on the final list. They never got reached. Typically, most if not all of the yfd ff hiring list ive seen or heard in the past 20 yrs lasted for a 4 yr duration. Excluding legal issues, budget issues and politics aside. I've seen lists reach candidates who were ranked in the 60's as well in the low 100's. Most lists typically see two classes hired off of it in the four year duration. Time will tell. Good luck!!
  2. . Correct me if iam wrong but I thought he used four handguns to comitt the horrible act and the rifle was left in the car.
  3. What really is mind boggling about some of these posts is how people can perceive the yfd of going after empress when in fact it is empress who is trying to take all control over the 1st responder program which would result in the possibility of the yfd losing several fire companies. Can someone explain to me what empress would lose (not gain) if the system would remain the same? Thanks!
  4. What ever happened to the days where all members of emergency service could all get along for the most part? It's us that have to work together in life and death situations. Not mayors or management. Stop falling into the trap. They really don't care about us.
  5. Placing ground ladders for egress takes manpower. Something they don't have up there.
  6. Great job b! Keep sharing that knowledge.
  7. horrible news! Pray for everyone involved.
  8. Today, I happened to see a westchester county fd chiefs vehicle parked at a mall in Connecticut. Not naming the dept. Wouldn't it serve the town better if it was left in its district with someone else taking over command rather then 30 minutes away from its district? Running errands in nearby towns seems somewhat justifiable but 30 minutes out of state seems somewhat excessive to me. Unless of course it was conducting dept business rather than Christmas shopping. And trust me they were shopping. Lol. Any thoughts?
  9. batt 2 has 53,000 miles on it already in just under three years. Does anyone know what the average is for miles put on a fdny batt in say a year? I heard the old batts were a little too big in length for the tight streets and the tahoes may be a better fit for their needs. Any they averaged 3 mpg on top of that. Lol.
  10. Rest in peace.
  11. All of the devices/systems out there accomplish the same task in the end. It really comes down to personal preference but more important is outfitting yourself and your dept sooner than later. Whatever you decide to choose now, a new and improved device will probally be developed in the near future anyways. Just an example, We (FIrst Due Training) recently trained the entire Newark NJ FD this past summer and they chose the f-4 device, fire tech rope, stored in a lumbar bag with the crosby hook. Inbox me if you have any other questions!
  12. I saw in the incident alert that somers vfd couldnt get an engine out for a co run and had to rely on m/ a. Its a good thing the house wasnt on fire. Does this happen often?
  13. If they were chinese, white, aliens or zombies i would of posted it. They so happen to be african americans. Just a fact.
