Merlin, Sometimes there are different names for towns that the GPS reconizes. ie. Millbrook/Town of Washington. Maybe try that. Otherwise get yourself a garmin. I got an extra one I'll sell it to ya cheap. Give me PM. Stay safe.

Its pretty bad when I have to listen to the computer to hear a call. As we all know the radio reception in Putnam is not the best. ( West Side )

I Agree 100% with you!!

I dont know much about their Westchester ops, but it seems they have the same problem with their entire service area. So what are they doing with Regional EMS?

Now if they could get some medics to work in Putnam and Dutchess counties. I have been hearing a lot of ALS assist calls to Hudson Valley Paramedics lately. I hear the Putnam medics going to Putnam Ridge all the time to assist a HVP BLS unit with a ALS call. And just this afternoon I heard Alamo ALS assist to HVP BLS unit at Green Haven. If they dont have the appropraitly staffed units why are the sending them to ALS calls? I know staffing is an issue for all, but lets not put our patients in jepordy by sending a BLS unit from far far away when someone is having chest pain. I know people think nursing home pts and prisoners are different. But my grandmother is in a nursing home for rehab are you going to tell me she is not entitled to the same care as she is when she is home??? There is a time when you should turn the call over to the closest appropriate agency. Just my 2 cents.

Dan, GREAT pics. A lot of old faces. Thanks

Spike, Putnam County has a contract with Transcare. There are 3 ALS fly cars, 1 ALS Ambulance, and 1 BLS ambulance contracted by Putnam County. Unless they are out on calls there are ALWAYS 4 medic units assigned to Putnam County

This has been discussed at several of the chiefs council meetings. The reasoning we were given was that it was not feasable with the CAD system that DC 911 operates with. In order for it to work with the CAD the dispatcher would have to manually enter each cell phone #. I believe the county is working with the CAD manufactuer to fix this "glitch " in the software.

"With the intermunicipal agreement, Gold said, the high volume of calls would assure the provider enough income, resulting in no charge to the city." Interesting in the fact that BVAC bills for thier services, so the ALS provider is unable to bill since BVAC is the transporting agency. So I dont see how the high call volume would assure the provider enough income. The only way the mayors plan works is if BVAC is gone.

It sounds like City of Beacon thinks they are going to get free EMS coverage. I had heard a rumor that Hudson Valley Paramedic Service went to The City of Beacon and offered free EMS, both ALS and BLS. On the condition that they could bill the patients. This in theory woud put BVAC out of bussiness since they bill and rely on the billing monies for day to day operations. Good Luck to BVAC!

Congrats Todd!!

Turbo, Is that your new POV????

Medic 1 and Medic 2 should be in next week. Both 2009 Ford explorers. I belive the paint and lettering will be the same as Medic 4's flycar

Als, You're right it is very nice to see some old familiar names. It reminds me of the good ole days. Looking forward to running into everyone soon. I will be working medic 1 and 2. As for my own company.. not yet but when it happens you're # 1 on the list. See ya soon.

That looks like Al Kalaer to me. And that doesnt look look like Craigs truck.
-
Very nice truck. Best of luck with it.
-
Turbo, Congratulations!!! Best of luck to you, the Mrs. and the little one. Stop down to Philipstown I'll buy ya that beer.
-
You go Annie!! Best of luck to the new 19-1-1. Your favorite former P-town Medic/ soon to be future
-
Congratulations Craig. Well deserved!!!
-
Maybe they might keep some more spare trucks in Wappingers. Just a thought. Lets not Worry about how Transcare is going to conduct their Putnam Operation. I'm sure they already figured out most of the logistics. I'm sure that when October 1st comes everything and everyone will be in place. Lets face it this is not the 1st time the Putnam contract has switched hands.

Congrats Tommy!

I was wondering what would happen to them if they lost Putnam. Time will tell. Best of luck to all the EMTs and medics involved.
-
That is very interesting. What will happen to Hudson Valley Paramedic Service w/o the Putnam contract? Do they have enough bussisness w/o the Putnam contract to survive. Their former managment team left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths, including mine. (get your minds out of the gutter people).

My question is ,what is taking the county sooo long to make an anouncment. Lets say Hudson Valley Paramedics doesnt get the contract. That Leaves the new provider just a little over a month to get things in place for the contract. That is not a lot of time when you have the buy new vehicles, equipment and not to mention hire about 20 EMTs and Medics. In my mind the county sets up the new company for failure right from the start!
