  1. I found this story really interesting. Yes I understand that things can go wrong and we can die or get seriously injured. But the way this lieut was talking bothers me. FullStory: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/a...16&id=58484
  2. Sucks wish i could get down there but looks like i'll be pushin some snow
  3. Exactly my thoughts. why is it that when something bad happens, we point fingers we point out what happened wrong then the next thing we know the same thing happens somewhere else and someone else gets hurt.....I understand things happen but if it is a problem, why don't we STOP.Think.and hopefully PREVENT it from happening again. I have bad habits as do most of us. but unfortunatly we all have learned alot from accidents when people get hurt or killed( but how many times does the same accident need to happen before people really take into account the problem. Sometimes it could be lack of saftey officer sometimes lazyness. Accountability is a very large problem your correct but in two area, the first being I can't count the number of times I personaly have not "TAGED" in before leaving the truck, and that in my eyes is my own fault. 2nd. Whos fault is it when people who make mistakes are not disciplined?
  4. Whats up with all these Fire Truck manufacturers they are hittin the ****. My question is whats makeing this happen. E-one i keep seeing more and more. American la france ive seen a number of new deliveries recently also. are they not building quality trucks? or are the parent companies the problem?

  12. Didn't we have a thread on here a day or so ago of a engine gettnig hit by a suv while putting out a tire fire on a car carrier? It's for reasons like this why we block excessive amount of lanes off.....Also, haven't we all seen the videos of cops getting hit while on traffic stops by passing by motorists. Even a few killed. Oh well traffic gets backed up for 20 min isn't that a price worthy to pay so we are as safe as possible. this is why we do it !!!!!!!!!!!
  13. not only was he trying to protect his guys and the injured.....but he was trying to protect the COPS too......comeon now
  14. we used the spreaders to jack up one side of the firehouse at my old dept in new jersey when the fondation failed during a big rain storm so we could but cinderblocks under the plate
  15. This might be a little different then everyone is talking about but one thing i heard over and over was the word pride. - Being a vol. for 7 years i admit i don't know everything, i believe noone ever knows everything, but anyway i know enough to know that pride is a large part of the fire service. as you may hear alot in the paid end of" thats not in my job discription"....i hear alot of the "hold my paycheck" in the vol depts. i have a big problem with that. i feel that being part of a vol dept is more then a service to a community, its a honor. people think that saying hold my paycheck will get them outta any trouble or "wrong" they have done because they feel that we need them and they don't need us and that they are here for free. i look at my fire dept as my 2nd family and am honered and will do all i can to make my brothers and sisters of the fireservice jobs easier. if i do something wrong i take it like a man and try not to do it again. in the end its all the same its people who don't take there job serious. they need a simple excuse that will get them outa anything they are to LAZY to take care or learn. The hardest part about it is vol. are so hard to come by now, someone can say that and get away with b/c we the comunity needs them. Sorry my little vent...havea good one
  16. Yea, that dosen't make much sense b/c pools work by going by the score at the end of that givin period looking at it again this pool makes no sense...haha i don't really care but just sayin
  17. Best game i have ever seen ......Big Blue congrats. i don't thionk i have ever been this happy!!!!!!!!
  18. One thing i have against and this could poss. go as a warning for some. If you can see almost all of those cars/trucks have the same backup lights. They are made by HELLA and have two 55watt bulbs in each one. Each one of the light work independently which is a good thing because you can wire one in each light to the regular backup lights and the other bulbs you can wire to a switch and turn on when needed. THere is only one problem. They are prone to moisture. I know several people and they all have had problems with water filling up the light housing. A few of them sent the lights back to hella and hella sent them new ones, but the new ones had the same problem. I just want to warnd people before getting them that they are a royal pain in the ***. I wouldn't recomend them.
  19. I first came from a dept. with red trucks....I now belong to a company where we are the only company in our dept with lime trucks. Personally i have grown to love them and understand how they are much more visible. One of the other companys in our dept have a boreshead theme with the red over black and personally i feel it is unsafe b/c of the lack of visiblity.
  20. yea i mentioned it before. On fathersday of of 2007 we had to call the town truckin with a pickup mounted fuel tank to fill our attack engine up in the driveway.
  21. Seth, I like the idea but 2 weeks seem a little bit short. Yes, people beat old topics but they have questions, even if beatin to death, we should still answer the questions or conserns if it can help 1 persons unerstanding to a topic....... every once in a while yea i don't get on for a week or two. will i have too search through archives inorder to read them then ask you to unlovk them. I think i am misreading it but if i am not i also think 30 days would be more suitable. Does cuting it to 2 weeks save space for the site or any performance issues?!?
