  1. VAC is short for Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
  2. This is very sad news to hear!!! This just proves that apparatus operators must use due regard when responding. Although, as we all know, when we hear a 10-75 transmitted, our adrenaline starts and we tend to move faster!! Safety when responding is of the upmost importance because if we don't get to the scene, we are no help!!!
  3. Continental Village responded with 1 tanker to scene along with Putnam Valley EMS, an Alamo Medic, Putnam County Sheriff's and NYSP. Mohegan Lake put a few members to work upon arrival while all others remained FAS Team. Toward end, FAS Team was put to work for overhaul after fire knocked down and conditions were deemed safe.
  4. Mohegan's previous Rescue 32, an early 1990's E-350 McCoy Miller (number sceme changed to 69B2) originally saw service with Cortlandt VAC until Mohegan bought it from them in the mid 1990's.

  6. Its very sad news to hear. T-10 was a very important piece of the "Tanker Shuttle System" in Westchester and I wish a speedy recovery to the crew!!!
  7. Traffic was backed up in both directions so, 69B2 and 2263 responded Southbound in the Northbound lanes from Rt 132.
  8. STAT Flight Patient was pumpimg gas when motor vehicle accident occured on Rt 6 , which sent 1 of vehicles into gas station and hit the pt's vehicle which in turn threw pt. to ground under his vehicle. Negative on the pin job and pt. was pulled from under car prior to FD/EMS arrival. (1) 1 3/4 line stretched from Eng. 257 due to integrity of gas pump being compromised. On a good note, there was no fuel leak from gas pump.

  10. I wouldn't necessarily say that the "fire bug" has hit us. Looking back at this past winter, Mohegan was relatively quiet considering the circumstances with the extremely cold weather and abundant snowfall. There were very few fires this winter....I guess we are making up for it now (at least its warmer, lol)!! BTW, calling U-12 is up the IC and I have absolutely NO control of that, hahaha.
  11. For those who are unsure of the call being discussed, the call is Mohegan's Working fire on 3/25/04 in the Incident's Alert Forum
  12. Let's Go Yankee's.....The Best of the Best in baseball through history!!!! =D> :D/
  13. No ladder ops....driveway was real tight for apparatus. The driveway is windy, narrow and about 1,000 feet long. Eng. 254 had trouble gaining access due to the snow. With Eng. 257 and L-35 staged on DiRubbo Dr, the hose stretch and other equipment were closer even though it was through the woods. Another note: The house was currently under renovation and 2nd floor collapsed before arrival.
  14. Eng. 254 made access up snow covered driveway to house (91 Locust Ave.). Eng 257, L-35 located on DiRubbo Dr with 2 hydrants hit feeding 5" supply line off L-35 into a manifold approx. 500' into woods which was broken down into (2) 2 1/2 inch lines a (1) 1 3/4 lines for exterior attack. Eng. 250 stoodby on Locust Ave. Cortlandt VAC stoodby at scene due to multiple hits for Mohegan EMS with assistance from Yorktown VAC and Peekskill VAC. Manpower from Peekskill, Yorktown and Verplanck FD's.
  15. Croton FASTeam/Engine 119 was original FAST dispatched upon confirmation of 10-75. Peekskill/Eng. 130 was 2nd FAST to scene.
  16. Awesome news to hear. Congrats!!!!! =D>
  17. I read an article last week in The Journal News about Mt. Kisco VAC's new building. Its new location is on Lexington Ave and has a common parking lot with Independent Engine Company. They will be moving in very shortly. Congrats Mt. Kisco! I also hear rumor that Peekskill VAC is loking into renovating their building on Main St.
  18. Pictures are now posted on EMTBravo.com
  19. Date: 03/04/04 Times: 07:31 Location: 2522 Pine Grove Ct x Rt 202 (Town of Yorktown) Frequency: 46.26 Units Operating: L-35, Eng. 250, 2265, 2266, 2267, YPD Description: Possible Structure Fire, reported fire in bedroom. Yorktown FASTeam to assemble and standby in their quarters as per 2266. Upon arrival smoke showing, starting YHFD FAST and Mohegan FD EMS to scene, but quickly turned around. Fire contained to some clothes on floor against wall. Wall opened up for possible extension with negative results. House vented and units picked up approx. 08:15 Writer: CG206
  20. At this fire, Eng. 250, Eng. 257 and L-35 were present. DFFD227, there is only 1 career firefighter manning each substation and 3 manning HQ. All structure fires get L-35 from HQ and the nearest substation. In this case, 2 substations responded and the ladder from HQ. All the volunteers (approx. 100+ members in dept) respond to the scene unless at the firehouse, typically HQ (and you wonder why I'm always there...lol). Although there are so many rigs, they are all not manned per say. Each station has a structural rig and an MVA/EMS rig. The type of call decides which rig rolls from which substation. Unfortunately, the volunteers cant pick up the other rigs to respond with.
  21. Swankie, Didn't I tell you about the EMT class that I am in right now months ago?? It started in late January. I swear I told you about it, lol.
  22. I would think that this is pretty much the same issue here in Westchester. Seems that many people are migrating out of Westchester to other areas upstate.
  23. On Cynthia Rd, The driver miscalculated drive for reverse and partially went through the garage wall at the front of vehicle. Driver was uninjured except for being quite shaken. *Note* other MVA's included: 1) Rollover with no injuries on Bear Mountain Extention at Taconic State Pkwy that was discovered and handled by 2261 enroute to Furnace Dock Rd MVA 2) MVA at Rt 6N/E Main St. intersection in Jefferson Valley section at approx. 20:30 hrs 3) Rollover with no injuries on Croton Ave I/F/O Station 3 at approx. 21:15 hrs
  24. There was a total of 10 cars off the roadway in a quarter mile stretch on the Peekskill/Mohegan border line.
  25. Mohegan recognizes members with commedation bars at a Springtime Awards Breakfast. Commedation bars are given to those members who save a life, are involved in extrications, or give personal risk at a scene. There are different classes in which the incident can fall, which relates to which type of commedation bar the member will receive. The most common is a life save commedation bar for saving a life by administering CPR and the group citation commedation bar for those involved in a successful extication incident. =D>
