Mohegan FD VAC has just finished forming a replacement committee to start the process of replacing 69B3, a 1999 Ford E-450/AEV. We'll see what happens over the next few months....

Mohegan has all 4 types: K-12's, Quick Vents, Cutters Edge and Sawz All I feel it all depends on the situation.... 1) The use of a K-12 on metal or concrete works better than any other saw due to its power. 2) When it comes to a typical residential wooden plywood and shingle roof, I feel the Quick Vent or Cutters Edge saw handles better. 3) When it comes to interior operations, I feel a Sawz All works the best. Its small, works on either battery or electric power and it doesnt give off exaust fumes where air quality can be diminished. However, if the saw you chose isnt working in a particular operation, switch to another saw to complete the task!

Supposedly its against the town code....what about all the businesses that have these huge lighted billboards....thats ok though?? Wheres the justice????? This signs for the COMMUNITY!!!!!

I know that Truck 18-5-1 that is stationed at Buckshollow Rd and Union Valley Rd has been stationed there because it does not fit into their Headquarters. The previous tower ladder was an Osh Kosh Low Rider which fit in HQ. I'm assuming that when HQ is expanded, the Tower Ladder will return to Headquaters on Rt 6.

There were multiple reasons why Mohegan VAC transfered dispatch to 60 Control on our seperate frequency: 1) The VAC got it's own frequency in 2001 for the purpose of having all members carry portable radios to answer calls instead of calling the firehouse by phone. From then until this past May, calls were toned out over both 46.26 and the new VAC freq (EMS Only members do not carry fire pagers) with ALL operations on the VAC freq. 2) Our previous dispatch was done by Mohegan Fire....it was good that it was internal, but there was no Emergency Medical Dispatch plus when Headquarters went unmanned for a call, 60 Control took over the phones and radio....The VAC wanted someone to dispatch FULLY and not have dispatch dumped to someone else when Headquarters went unmanned, which occured on a frequent basis. 3) For some reason, the written procedures on dispatch were not quite followed correctly...both blame on the VAC and Fire for not getting straightened out together. New procedures were written with the transfer and dispatch has been running quite smoothly since May!!!

One of my fellow firefighters and a personal friend is desperately looking to get a copy of the Firehouse Magazine December 1983 issue. This firefighter's father's picture was displayed on the cover of the December 1983 issue. The picture was of a save of a woman at the Windham Hotel in Yonkers performed by Yonkers Fire Lt. Anthony Cerrato. Since this Lt. has past away some time ago, the family is desperately trying to find a copy of this issue to keep for memories. The family is heavily involved in the fire service and is asking for help from his fellow brothers and sisters for the search of this issue. The family will do anything to get this issue!! If anybody can help him out, please contact me with your contact info. On behalf of him and his family, I appreaciate as much help as possible!
