Gotta be honest with ya bro. I never in my life heard of anything like that. It's almost impossible to believe! I can't understand how it's allowed or is it?
-
Good! That's what I'm talking about! Most of these bums are usually lazy and could care less about the Job anyway. They're more of a hinderance than an asset in their profession.
-
Do they work in the same or different states?
-
Your right Chris192, Jobs will always try to find the cheap way out especially when there's so many of us out there that aren't legitimately injured and are looking for the easy lotto ticket. Sometimes we're our own worst enemies. I favor Depts. and Municipalities investigating those they feel are abusing the system. Screw'em. Throw them in jail and make them pay back every cent they received. These individuals are just going to make it harder for those guys who are honestly injured to collect down the road. This goes for all occupations.

I think the straps suck too, especially when they get wet.

Well good for you and your Dept.. I'm glad some guys respected the request of those members of the Dept. in question. Now that's what I'm talking about. True brotherhood amongst and between Unions! Good for you guys. P.S. Nobody ever said you were dumb. RELAX already.

What facts?

While on this topic, I saw a Pleasantville FD Chief car in Yonkers yesterday. Anybody know why?
-
My Dept. just purchased that TNT tool for our truck companies. Anybody ever work with them. Personally I think it's a p.o.s. not to mention it weighs like 11lbs. How long is a guy going to be able to pull ceilings with it. That's if ya can even reach them. The thing is also only 3' long. Another bonehead move by mgmt.
-
I guess ya misunderstood me. What I mean is, if a Dept.'s policy is to call back members on o.t. to man spare apparatus to replace that which was sent out of town on m/a, they'll eventually have to refuse sending companies o.o.t, if they can't get these members to come back. Got It! I don't think it's that hard to undertand. This was even asked of by members of that Dept. your talking about, yet some of our so called Union Brothers in these other depts. don't really care about their cause and fight. They just seem to be concerned with filling their pockets with o.t. As far as that Dept. you mentioned not refusing to send m/a, well that's their stupidity, but I guess they feel obligated to offer it, considering they're always requesting it even for the smallest of Jobs. One day it will come back to haunt them.

FDMV's old R1 may still be up for grabs. You guys should look into it.

I should have clarified myself Capt.. My comment was directed more towards the smaller Combo Depts. that are use to working with a skeleton crew, usually just Chauffers, who continuosly complain about manpower, but will send an apparatus out on m/a staffed with 3-4 career guys, to a Dept. who is also suffering from the same issue. There doesn't seem to be any solidarity anymore between Unions. If a Dept. requested for m/a can't get any of their own members back to man spare apparatus, to replace that which was sent out of town, then maybe, just maybe, the municipality that is always requesting it will be forced to find some means of increasing its staffing. At least it's a start, it can't hurt. I just can't phathom how the members of these Depts. just eventually accept their poor and dangerous staffing levels, and seem more concerned with sending an apparatus out of town on m/a with a full compliment of men. Screw the neighboring town, and their Government Officials. Whose paying their salaries anyway, the municipality hosting the party? I know I as a taxpayer would be pretty pissed off if my tax dollars were quite often paying for ff. ot to provide fire protection for another juristiction. Just my two cents. I could be wrong also. We'll never know though so long as guys run back for the almighty $$$$$$$$$.
-
Never mind the Chiefs, how about ffs. who run back to respond m/a to play and get dirty or to cover spare rigs, that are replacing those that were sent o.o.t.. I got a problem with this, especially when a Dept. is fighting for more men and equipment!

Are you implying ALS that the Top Brass actually do the right thing for once? How dare you! You know that's impossible. It's much easier to kill the messenger.

Doesn't weeze all diserve some chances Mr.Hudson?

Where did all the monies go?

Is it true they serve red wine and pizza at Lake Isle Country Club after the parade?

It's the real meaning of March Madness.

I'd love to know if the new City Administration knows about this. How could someone give away a piece of apparatus, city owned for that matter, that could be sold as is, or for parts and scrap metal? Couldn't FDMV use those spare parts for their other ailing apparatus? Who was the genius responsible for this irrational and irresponsible move? Did FDMV receive any money for it at least? If so, who's pocket did it go into?

How about taking the whole window out, instead of taking off your SCBA. Just another fine example of why a tool should be carried.
-
I don't think there were any rescue tools or equipment on it but there were some things on it I've been told that could have been used as spares, especially the generator. Your right though Seth, what will they use if the new R1 is out for repair? Call mutual aid as usual? Who's brain storm idea was that? Some of my buddies over there told me the whole transaction is shady and should be looked into.

That's probably because he actually knows what it's like to be a firefighter and line officer. He's crawled down enough hallways I'm sure to know enough of what the Job's all about and stands behind his men. Those who have no clue about the fire service and are appointed to such ranks as a political favor or have stood outside their whole career hiding are the ones who seem to have the problem with this site. It's very sipmle the way I see it. If you don't want your dirty laundry aired on this site, then don't do anything stupid to give someone a reason to make it public. Personally, I think the public has a right to know how their tax dollars are being spent. If one's not doing their job or doing it incorrectly, then they should suffer the consequences. You want Respect, then Earn It! I don't care how many stars and bars you got on your collar or scrambled eggs on the brim of your cap! You should be qualified to hold a position of rank, no matter what it may be. If your not, then too bad if you get embarrassed at some point in your career.

The Savannah, GA parade is the ticket lads. 2nd largest ST. Paddy Day Parade in the Country. They have absolutely gorgeous and delicious Georgia peaches. Never mind NYC, although I'm not complaining. That's still a good time also.

The sad thing is Seth, that these are the same little, disrespectful, know it all punks that are joining the Fire Service of today. Your right, it's time for Mommy and Daddy to start parenting and stop being their friends. Then again if the parents look down on Cops and berate them in front of their children, what do ya expect?

People of that size shouldn't even be allowed to live above the 1st fl. seriously. I hope a judge doesn't even entertain this suit. Maybe his reward should be having to watch Richard Simmons dance around in his little pink panties.
