I don't think Europes LODD's is greater but I'm pretty sure their number of civilian fatalities is greater. Not to mention much of their construction, especially their residential is Class 1. P.S., Was that a gold chain I saw hanging from the rear view? Where's the capezios?

What's even more scary then posts with misspelled words and poor gramar is the fact that some of these members responsible for these posts are so called CFI's and SFI's! God Help the Fire Service!
-
I suggest everyone attending should hitch a ride on their Dept. apparatus or other Dept. vehicle(s) that'll be in the Parade, so they don't have to pay out of pocket expenses for gas, for using their personal vehicles as transportation. Just a thought.
-
Probably not. They usually look for someone with credentials.
-
That's probably because he was usually assigned to the Engine Co. and only had one job to perform like the FDNY guys.
-
Was it a mouse or one of their members? Alot of drivebyes in that area.
-
Never mind needing a 2nd Engine Co. what about the poor soul trapped at a 5th fl window waiting for the 1st due ladder that's delayed because 4 career guys showed up on the 1st due Engine and the Ladder Co. is still waiting for a chauffer to show up!
-
That would definitely solve the problem. It did in my station. We got a station cat 2 yrs. ago and haven't seen a rodent since, not to mention the money it saved on an exterminator that wasn't helping out much.

How many guys and rigs are left back to man the fort? Do you guys call back career guys and/or volunteers to man spare apparatus or does everybody get to go to the dog and pony show?
-
Does Rye FD send apparatus to the parade?
-
Rye is just another City where the Fire Service is treated like the red headed step child! Oh well.
-
How do the career Rye guys feel about Regionalization?
-
Yeah I hear ya Hudson. What I really miss the most is Ch12 interviewing your former Fire Commissioner Gumba Nick! He really looked and sounded so professional while wearing his Capo clothes. Who'd he think he was anyway Don Carleon! What a disaster that always was. Pretty entertaining though I must say.
-
I hear ya on that one! Like I've said before, I've never seen so many HYPOCRITES in one Profession such as the Fire Service. It truly amazes me.

Good for them! It's nice to know that there are some Unions that are still around fighting for more manpower. Keep up the fight Rye FFs.. Maybe it'll rub off on Local 107!
-
Who said FDMV was testing it out? From the pictures, I can't figure that out. I don't see anybody from FDMV there. Where did you get your info. from?
-
GOOD STUFF!
-
Just to show ya, the manager doesn't make the team. They should have hired a Latino, cause that's what baseball has become, a Latino Sport. Joe Toree isn't doing $hit with the Dodgers! Another Yankee Waste, like Joe Gerardhi! Yeah, he's a real hero! The Yankees will be in the toilet soon like they've been so many times before! You can't buy a Championship George with a new Stadium, like you've done with your $$$$$, many times before! JackAss!
-
Yonkers has one, don't they? Who else in Lower West.Cnty has a tanker, anybody? If ya think about it, their not a bad asset to add to your fleet. They may just come in handy one day.

Will see how long this Unit lasts. Will the horses have a chance to lateral transfer to other Depts. also, if they get tired of MT.Vernon?
-
Seeing how things are run in that City, those poor horses will probably be dead of malnutrition soon! Then again, they'll have plenty of water to drink from at the roundabout fountain.

It all depends on the circumstances. That maybe true to some extent but not so much if your Dept. doesn't have a minimum manning agreement in their contract and will just ride short or put a rig o.o.s.. I know there's many of us out there, that would rather see a vacancy covered with O.T. then filled with a new hiree, whether it was due to a retirement, sick leave, l.o.d, etc.. For example, I bet the 3 guys in a 4 man Dept. would love to cover the 4th man's spot on O.T. if he was going to be out for an extended period of time, instead of hiring a new recruit. Same goes for Officer Promotions. There's many Officers out there that would rather see an Officer vacancy filled with O.T. then a member get promoted, especially if the Dept. has a lack of Officers to begin with. Again, it all depends on how the Dept. is structured. There's many factors to be considered. Hopefully I didn't butcher my point too badly either.

Ya know what kills me? How so many guys in some Depts. that are undermanned and ill equipped constantly complain about these ever so important issues, but at the same time are quick enough to brag about how much they made for the yr. once they get their W2's. Then the BIG Safety Issues seem to disappear, because God forbid we increase our manning if that means reducing all the O.T.!

Well maybe these so called "brother firefighters," who are IAFF members of these smaller Combo Depts. shouldn't pass comments that give others these so called false impressions about their Profession. They should think twice before opening their mouth and telling others, that all they do is drive to the handful of fires they catch a year and the Volunteers do the rest. This is what happens when a Dept. hires guys who have no Pride and could care less about their Job! As far as the term "HOOK UP and Look Up", that's been around for yrs. In fact the 1st place I heard it was in the Career Academy when I was a Probie, and it was directed at a fellow Probie of a Combo Dept. by a Career Training Officer. Talk about "Brotherhood"! Maybe we should start by schooling our own and tell them to think before they speak.
