  1. Bottle of bleach, hoseline and drisol. That should do it. Better yet, if it's a crime scene, let the PD(ESU) handle it.
  2. Unfortunately it sounds like that one way street in the Vern is heading South!
  3. Has any other Career Dept. had members who were officially retired go back to work. I never heard of such a thing. I know I'd be prettty pissed off, if I was next in line or a family member to get appointed and didn't, because some guy wanted his Job back because he didn't like retirement. Too friggin bad! Find work elsewhere! Did the Vulcans put up a fight with this move or was it o.k. with them? Only in the Vern.
  4. I just read that the former Union Pres. is now the new Commish. Is that a smart move? Seems like a conflict of interest to me. How about bringing in an outsider like the PD does. That seems to work for the betterment of the whole Dept.
  5. I guess the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
  6. And I went thru the Westchester Academy 25yrs. ago and can tell ya things have definitely changed. Some good and some not so good and this isn't just my opinion but many of my senior collegues and Officers who were there during its early yrs. I guess it all depends on the Directors and Instructors at the time. Some Classes are good and some not so good. I can tell ya one thing, not too long ago they were calling that Academy "Club Med" because it was so laid back and that was coming from many of the recruits themselves. Not to mention it showed when they hit the streets. Nothing like new recruits telling ya their first day on the Job that the Academy was a joke, especially those who left to join FDNY. As far as ffs. knowing multiple correct ways of how to accomplish a task, your absolutely correct but the key word in your statement is "correct".
  7. No doubt they should do it. In fact if I was one of the 26 Volunteers protecting the 26 miles I'd encourage it and want to take the test myself, so I could get paid for something I love doing in my home town. Especially if I was personally suffering as a result of the weak economy. Once again though tradition prevails and many are afraid of change, even for the better.
  8. Who is the women that the jacka$$ is referring to. If I were her I'd definitely file suit against him and if she was my mother, I'd snap his friggin neck!
  9. Your 100% correct! What are we saying here, if guys aren't taught in the Academy they aren't taught right? Just because a Probie is instructed on a topic/procedure by a CFI/SFI he's being taught correctly? NOT! I can't tell ya how many times a new recruit tell's me that he wasn't taught something or he actually was taught wrong. Like Nooch said, many Depts. in Westchester operate differently, whether it be SOP's or Strategy/Tactics. I've learned more from senior men and Officers who never set foot in the Academy, then those that are there teaching. I'm not saying the Career Academy is a waste of time, they do have some excellent Instructors, but if a Dept. can't afford it anymore and they have Experienced, Dedicated and Knowledgeable Firefighters and Officers, then why not train in-house. I've seen many an Insructor who just teaches right out of the book because they don't have the firefighting experience, as a result of working in a Dept. with a small fire load. Some of them are teaching before they've even made their first hallway. What ever fits a Dept. then so be it. I guess all those who were taught before the Academy opened its doors back in the early 80's were taught wrong. I can tell ya one thing about the Academy, from what I've seen and been told, it sure isn't the same Academy it was yrs. ago. I can't believe some of the stuff I hear Probies getting away with. They should be more like the FDNY Academy when it comes to Discipline that's for sure.
  10. I heard he's one of the 9.
  11. I heard some Depts. are thinking of Training their own due to the cost factor. Any truth to that?
  12. In addition to the manpower that was sent with them. I wonder if the municipalities with Career Depts. covered those sent with the rigs with O.T. on their Spares and if those with Volunteer Depts. had enough members stay behind with their reserve rigs. Let's start worrying about protecting our own turf and not who's got the biggest, cleanest and the most shiny rig.

  14. Yeah I hear ya Barry. I also can't stand those Depts. that try to emulate FDNY. Be your own man dam it!
  15. I think the real problem is alot of so called Careeer Guys on this Board don't like hearing a Volunteer Dept. is showing them up when it comes down to JOBS and the dedication and professsionalism that goes into suppressing them.
  16. Can anyone imagine a Dept. in NY proudly proclaiming itself as "New York's first all White FD". Imagine the $hit that would be stirred over that. I thought we were all equal and professional when it came to our job as firefighters, no?
  17. I'm surprised Wright and his parishoners even allowed BHO to even join their Church knowing he's only half black and not 100%. They detest Whitey so much, why'd they allow a Malado to join their Congregation? Hypocrites I say!
  18. I know alot of guys that wish they had chosen a different Dept., but not so much a different road. It depends on who you work for. Some Depts. and municipalities can really take the wind out of your sail!
  19. And how did that JackAss JFK and the rest of his Clan get elected, because of their hard work? Yeah O.K.! Has anyone seen the content of Michelle Obama's College Thesis yet? I think it's a little more interesting then why John McCain left his 1st wife.
  20. Especially if your going into a Gin Mill!
  21. It's funny though how so many Muslims were dancing in the streets on 9/11. Yeah they love this Country. To this day, not one Muslim nor Mosque has condemned the cowardly acts of their muslim counterparts on that horrific day. To hell with them all! Call me a bigot, I really don't care. I won't loose sleep, believe me. These skells brought it upon themselves, so if they feel targeted, oh well, go back and play in your sandbox.
