Good to see we can all work together!
-
Many of them came right across the bridge and that would b the Boston Post road bridge. They were there pretty quick too from what ive heard. I must say when FDNY goes m/a they go all out, no rinky dink b/s. I'm sure a company in Flushing or Asoria could be there alot quicker also then one from WP.
-
Now that makes sense. Good job PMFD!
-
Being so close to the Bronx border I think I would have just called FDNY with all the resources they have. Was there really a need for YFD and White Plains? What was their eta?
-
You gotta b kiddin me! Not another unneeded Station. C'mon! Put the money to better use!

No different then Politicians who get caught up in some type of scandal and then get re-elected. Look at Washington DC and MT.Vernon, NY. recently. God help that City! It's ashame but there seems to be a growing trend of many in Society who are lacking morals and nobody holds anybody accountable anymore. They all turn a blind eye to it, especially if that person in question is a good friend or has rewarded others in some way.

Maybe some Depts. are applying the Vulcan Decree to them. That could be cause for the delay.
-
And people are questioning why Somers FD is looking into change? DUH! Hey guys let's not pick on Northern Westchester Depts. there are quite a few in lower Westchester that have a great water supply and have quite a few depts. respond on m/a for your bread and butter fires.

Spot on Barry! Excellent post!

EMS has gone up 247% and what percentage of those calls are taxi rides to the Hospital and non-life threatening. Many of the EMS runs we do on my Job are B.S. and it's ashame the plan was implemented just to build up our runs cause fires are down. We now do more responses with less equipment and manpower. Where's the justification in that?

Better off being a felon then you don't even have to take the TEST.
-
Just wondering do any Volunteer Depts. require its members to stay a night or two in their respective Stations or is it on a Voluntary basis if they choose to. I know years ago a few Volunteers would stay occasionally in Quarters overnight on the weekends.
-
Not true at all. We'll just leave it at that.
-
If true I wonder if they'd give their own test or be part of the Towns/Villages testing. It does seem to be the wave of the future. Good for the Somers Officials for being proactive and lookin out for their taxpayers best interest.

Never had a problem with the Gamewells

I guess the press release is wrong then.
-
LOL! Like they did you guys a favor, weren't they bought with grants?
-
Just to clarify things I wasn't attacking the TMFD I was voicing my opinion on the ISO rating issue. Congrats to them on a job well done! Now put the Bresnan back in the closet dam it!
-
It's got alot to do with it bro., you should know that. You can have all the fancy equipment, training and bresnan distributors you want on a rig but if the manpower isn't there to deploy it and use it that ISO rating means nothing. Does the ISO take into account how many personnel show up to a Job at 3am without relying on m/a? The citizens of the Town of Mamaroneck might really enjoy their new reduction in Insurance premiums but lets see how they feel when their house or business burns to the ground cause a skeleton crew showed up on the 1st due apparatus within the 1st three minutes. This is by no means a diss to the TMFD, they got alot of great guys and do the best they can with what they got, but I think just too much emphasis is placed on ISO ratings. How many of the ISO employees have ever even fought a Job. I could care less if my Dept. has more then its full complement of halligans and nozzles or a great water supply within its district, if there's a delay in utilizing these resources you can take that ISO rating and stick it!

Maybe a good time for the Union to push for it to be put back in, no?
-
Is there an engine co. housed with L16 in that station and also is the victim standing on the roof of the fire building or an exposure?
-
Maybe it's time for the FDMV and MVPD to have one list. Let's face it the picking pool of decent candidates is slim to none if your just goin to take residents. Give me someone who wants the Job regardless of where they live.
-
It's about time. Sweet Justice!
-
Not if your life was being threatened. Just ask all those Depts. that were dispatched on m/a to Yonkers years ago when their members were striking.
-
Gotta agree with you on the "Job Security" issue. Nothing pisses me off more then the Unions backing the skells on the Job that $uck up over and over and you can't fire them cause they have rights.
