Crews to start building new emergency center Construction crews will soon begin moving earth and laying the foundations for Orange County's first emergency services complex in Goshen. County Executive Ed Diana kicked off the expected 14-month building effort today with a ground-breaking ceremony at the site. The facility, which will house the E-911 call center, the emergency management office and the future medical examiner's office, will rise on a hill behind the county jail off 6 1/2 Station Road. The project, including $3 million in renovations to the county's Fire Training Center in New Hampton, was initially expected to cost $43 million. But county officials say rising commodities costs could push its price tag up more than 10 percent.

Yes or it can also help you. If you are a safe driver you need not worry about it. if it's a true "Accident" then you have proof. Back to the video itself, the driver of this apperatus did not excersie any caution going thru the intersections. siren on yes but would he really have been able to stop quickly and safely if he had too? I don't think so.

X635 Did you make sure you returned your 1 day pass to Dutchess? loL
-
Dutchess had done this over a decade ago, and it works just fine. There are couple of terms that still get used , such as: 10-4 acknowledged Code 1 cold response Code 3 hot response Code 99 notification to St Francis for incoming trauma And we use the priority system for EMS jobs, P1 - serious in nature to P4 - minor in nature Good luck Westchester, but it will no doubt be a little while before everyone stops using the 10 codes.

They have trees in Arizona? LoL This moron should have also been charged with endangering the welfare of a child Yes a flase alarm is ABSOLUTLY the wrong thing to do, but maybe if this tool had called animal control and they intern called for the fire dept. to help, the firefighters may have helped. We have no idea how tall or how far up this cat was. If it was very high up does that department have the proper equipment to get up there? Maybe in the past this dept. or one in the same area sent a FF up a tree and he got hurt, or they don't provide the service because of the liability. Bottom line is yes we see the key points from this artical BUT do we really know them all? BTW - several years ago when I was Chief I went to a call for a kitten stuck in a wall. When I arrived I found this cat had fallen 10 feet inside a wall. If I turned around and told the elderly folks sorry I can't help you and let the cat stay there to die in the wall or for them to call in a carpenter to rip the wall apart would it have given my department good pr? Myself along with a couple others were able to cleanly open the wall and put it back together. This made the elderly ladies very happy, a few weeks later we recieved a donation from them thanking us.

My department has 2 KME's a '92 1000 gal. pumper & an '98 2000 Pumper/Tanker. Both on comercial chassis. We have never had a problem with the pumps or the bodys of the trucks. Both are very solid! They will prob. last a very long time. The only problems we ever had was with the international chassis. I recomend them, they are just as good as any other. I agree with "SKE#2HAHN" what they H*ll does anyone need a 1.5 Mil. dollar truck for???????

And he is not a fat dude, I don't know how he does it, If I eat one, I've gained 10 lbs!
-
Izzy I was refering to Jared1979 statement about only using 10-codes. I agree to suspend someone for using "10-4" is ludicris! I also agree that we don't have all the information. My own opinion is there is a personal fued between the two of them.
-
10 codes are slowly going away. There are many reasons for this, one of the biggest reasons is because there is no set standard of 10 codes anymore. This leads to major cluster "F" when a dept. responds m/a to another that they usually don't go too. Another reson is part of NIMS requires the use of plain text for resons mentioned above.

My district has a new station (but after 4 years were still not officaly in it) that was built by a developer and the moron developers found some loop hole so they did not have to put one in. because they built it privatly and are giving the district the house. I don't like it but some people just don't care!

redundancy redundancy redundancy! Always have a back up, and a back up to that too. Look at Dutchess's system, very few radio problems. Yea I know there are dead spots, unless you remove all the mountains and have nothing but flat land there will always be dead spots. My personal opinion is Orange County should have one radio system, not the mess they have now. You have departments using low band, VHF, UHF or 800 trunking. It is a communications nightmare! Regardless if you go with NYCOMCO, Mid-Hudson Comm. Metro-com or whoever else, they will sell you what they have. Unless you have someone in charge of the whole county and say this is how it's done, you will have a poor communications network.
