  1. I watched the whole segment a few days ago, very interesting. the low speed results worked but not practicale. It may lead to something similar in the future. Maybe replace stop sticks.
  2. That's just not right, you have an advantage!
  3. Good luck with the new truck, very nice looking. Just out of curiosity, how many rigs does EF have now?
  4. Initial estimates on the Chelsea site is at least 15 years to complete I wouldn't doubt it will go longer.
  5. Beacon Vol Amb charges any one we transport. This is our primary financial support. We do not receive any tax based moneys. As said we follow the Medicaid reimbursement schedule for their billing, we also tag mileage on the bill. Something we had to do several years ago and it appears to work for us.
  6. Their is a chamber in Chelsea that NYC began working on. The biggest leak they say is on Orange County side of the Hudson but they must enter from the Dutchess side. This apparently is not as easy to fix as people think. First NYC is trying to make sure that when they shut the Delaware aqueduct down they have a another source of water for NYC. The Delaware aqueduct provides 60% of the water to NYC. They when have to pump the billions of gallons of water out of the pipe into the Hudson River. This should be some sight to see. Then they are going to go down 700 feet drive 1 1/2 miles under the river to the Orange County side to fix the leak that is allowing about 15 million gallons a day to escape the aqueduct. 700 foot hole in the ground, can't wait for that confined rescue...
  7. NFPA says airhorns are to be placed lower than the operating cab of the vehicle. This helps to reduce hearing problems caused by the loud noise. They can be fender hight or lower That is why you do not see them on the roof of emergency vehicles anymore (or sirens)

  12. This guy sounds like some snotty rich businessman who missed an appointment. Most FD's contact the media and make people aware of this event. This guy most likely never spent a second thinking about doing volunteer work let alone being a fireman, policeman or EMS worker. I also can't see how someone can compare the work of a GARBAGE man to the work of a firefighter, police man or EMS worker. This guy goes to work dangerously hanging off the back of trucks picking up garbage. we emergency service guys go out to protect the public day in and day out. We risk catching diseases, getting assaulted or shot, getting burned, and possibly dying to protect you the public. This guy needs to be woken up maybe when he drives home drunk gets in an accident kills someone and gets seriously injured himself or a family member falls sick and help is provided by "one of those public service employees who tie up traffic" He might think again about the people who help him everyday. It's people like him that make you want to hold up all traffic for even the minor accidents not just to piss him off but to make sure no emergency personnel are killed, which would cause us to have a long funeral procession. Just my 5 cents of thought (you know inflation)
  13. Is it, a lot of people want this day a holiday that don't drink Guinness. But if we did that then every natinality would want thier day off. Just not going to fly these days. You want another holiday added, push to have 9/11 off. Give the people the day to remeber the ones we lost that day. This should be the next US holiday!

  16. Just this past Sunday, March 9th, the Fairview FD (Dutchess) responded to a girl and a dog in the Hudson river. the girl was out when they go to the scene but the dog was in a remote section along the river next to a high embankment. The FF's donned the gumby suits and with the verbal assistance of a animal control officer walked into the river and got the dog and brought him to safety. Now the area they were in was shallow, knee high (looking at the pictures in the Poughkeepsie Journal) and the water was not rough. This is just a rare example of using the suits in a river, otherwise no they don't go in the river. 17. Yea the days of "J.J." were fun, Trips to the Savoy were lots of fun that I can remember...I think it was all the Kamikaze shots I was doing. Thank god for that Subway that was open all night That was a nasty fatal, I remember pulling up on it before the bus got their, I made the first 911 call for it. We tried our best to free the victims with anything we could, we used tire irons and some other misc. tools before the locals arrived. This was way before they decided to put up guard rails in the medians.
