  2. Want to see oil prices go down? Well if you add up the amount of jet fuel not being used due to dropped flights, the thousands of people now unemployed and not using gas because they can't afford it and I'm sure there are other things it will go down. Speculation, Speculation, Speculation well, I'm speculating that some of those speculating are gonna end up unemployed because they are putting the stock markets to the test.
  3. On a positive note, less planes flying means less oil being used. Once the jerks (sorry if your offended) on Wall St realize this maybe the world can turn around a little.....and change the president!
  4. It is one of the few privately owned parcels on the mountain. it is surrounded on three sides by land owned by either NYS Parks or Scenic Hudson. There is also 1 cabin left from back in the day located near the old casino property and wheel house, the antenna farms also fall into the same category of no protection. The following cover most of the mountain in Dutchess Co. Beacon Vol. Amb., Tn of Fishkill PD & NYS DEC. Situations like this are not as common in this area anymore but can still be found upstate (or so I am told.) Truck6018 - you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your statement.
  5. The road is not always like that. If the city or a radio contractor has to do work up on top they may have a crew clean it up. Because there is no runoff control, the water takes out the road. I myself have driven a car to the reservoir with out damaging it, have driven my truck in 2 wheel drive to the radio towers with out destroying my truck. The house you are referring too, is not in any fire district or protection district. If it burns everyone gets to sit back and watch and only if it threatens the woods will the DEC respond. Big risk to take.
  6. The Mt. road from Beacon is drivable up to the towers. You can usually take a car up there. Here is a photo desciption of the area. This one has contours.
  7. FYI - I have been up in that area and if you went thru Beacon, and went up the Mt road, you could have walked him 1/2 mile and then used the ATV and drove him down the mountain on the road. The tower is in Dutchess, but we would have called you guys anyway.
  8. Great shots Bill, I was surprised to see you up there. You had a great location. I must say that was a very windy parade route though, but definitely a good time.
  9. Hi, I'm Mr. Thief, I know you have to have cash only to get gas here so I'm going to sit back and wait for you to come get your gas then mug you before you pay. Or Hi Mr Station owner, I know your loaded now, hand it over.

  13. My house is along the river and this looked like the worst storm I've seen in decades. the rain, wind and lightning, you would think it was a hurricane. visibility dropped to about 200 - 300 feet, vertical rain & winds that were about 80 - 90 mph. As bad as it looked, damage could have been much worse. I had a lightning strike about 50 feet from my house and took off a 8 inch round limb. you could smell the burnt wood. The weather channel said that the monster that rolled over the middle of the county had cloud hights over 43,000 feet.
  14. Really sad! I hope he gets what's coming to him
  15. FYI - Chelsea was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the Hudson View apartments how ever it was a false alarm and we were back in service seconds after New Hamburg command reported 2 houses on fire. chuckieboy44 - What New Hamburg did was correct request station coverage and let 911 send any department. I felt it was a little odd that they dispatched Roosevelt however the senior dispatcher that was on felt that was the best thing to do. New Hamburg, even though our district lines are only a mile apart (if we could drive along the tracks or on the river LoL) I'm sure there will be another time and another place for our members to help you. 16. If you would like to know about incidents going on to the minute join a paging company. Not trying to be mean but just stating my feelings
  17. Yes we did, the New Hamburg area got the worst of it. they had 2 structure fires in adjacent houses on Swenson Dr. sounded like basement fires in both, but not sure. I can't figure out why they had Roosevelt St. 2 relocate an engine to New Hamburg, it's a 20 - 25 min ride with no traffic.
  18. We used to get them every once and awhile but since they went to concrete ties the fires diminished
  19. 2008 Exhibit Hours Thursday, June 12:12:30 – 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 13: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. I hope to go up Saturday
  20. My dept buys from a gas station and the only thing they do is remove the tax. Station owners only make 10 - 15 cents per gallon if that.
  21. It's a car fire, don't take the risk if you don't have to. If no one is trapped inside or a building is not endagered don't go crazy. Like "DaRock98" said training and proper size up are key. If you can salvage the passenger compt. for the owner, great but don't put your self in any more danger than you are already in.
  22. She so Happy, She made it big, It's news all over the place. She's now a star! .2 She can be an expensive date too
  23. Just another sign that America is folding from within. Just what the terrorist want.
  24. Last week I stopped by the Firefighter 1 class being held at the East Fishkill training center. I put together a video along with music from Disturbed, into the fire. Here's the link: If that doesn't work, search by "Dutchess County, NY firefighter 1" or by my user name JETPHOTO35
  25. All states are required to have at least a .08 level. This was something the goverment did a few years ago, they said unless you do this you will not get any federal money. Just away for the federal goverment to pull dictatorship on the states. Not that this is a bad thing in this case.
