Don't speak on what YOU do not know!! First of all you can't even get the chief in charge correct. second we do use Castle Point when it is needed. Fireman 3484 is correct it does change with different chiefs just like almost every other fire company when a new chief is put in m/a plans might change. Castle Point and Chelsea have always been their for each other when needed. You must listen to different radio than I do because our response times have improved greatly. So like other vol. fd's in todays world not everyone gets out right away. Castle Point is their for any department to call not just Chelsea. They can be their for initial attack or as a fast team. No "Glorified Taxi Drivers) Isn't the reason (well one of them) that Northern Dutchess Paramedics changed to NDP was because they had the word "Paramedics" and were showing up on serious calls where they needed a medic and it was only a BLS bus?

Congrats and good luck

Not a dispatcher but back in the early 80's DC (back the Dutchess County Bureau of Fire) have had conversations with people in California, but mostly Wayne NJ. Today the big thing is Cell Phone skip. I'm sure you dispatchers involved with cell 911 calls have had some interesting calls from crazy locations. Then comes along with VOIP and now you get calls around the world thanks to the Internet. What's next?

It does suck, But it's sad it took this long to figure out that theirs a problem. unfortunately it's cut jobs or raise the taxes sky high. I think the first step the government should take is cut the salaries of any employee making over, lets say $200k And their is no reason why when a school district gets rid of the super and hire another they raise the persons already ridicules salary

As frustrating as it was I think everyone did a great job. Usually you hear a call like that and it's BS. Last night as soon as I heard DC911 dispatch Beacon, Newburgh & OC911 disp Fort Montgomery marine units I could tell this was not one of those BS calls. Although I could not hear PC911 I could tell the dispatchers were playing their "A" game and seemed to communicate pretty good with thier nieghbors. When operating at any multi jurisdiction incident communication seems to fall short sometimes. One good thing is the boats are able to communicate on marine radio's with the same channel. This incident especially from a technical rescue point of view should be submitted to a fire magizine like Firehouse. This would provide good information on one of the most unique calls in years. Good job everyone! God Bless the one who passed and the others that were injured. JetPhoto

In Dutchess, City of Beacon 33-99, 33-55 and Beacon Vol. Amb were on the job, as it was originaly thought to be by Bannermans Island. Early reports from Putnam, Dutches, Newburgh fire & OC911 reported that they came from Gullys. Sounds like you had 1 hell of a rescue! God job that had to be frustrating

So now it's up to a neighboring dept to sign a contract for service or hire non hasdic people to run interior jobs. I know some close fights have occurred on scenes of structure fires in the past. One prompting a call to have 36-1 to the scene along with the state police because they pulled their apparatus in to a structure fire and blocked the road and the responding interior FF had to hike a distance among other issues of who was in command. Just remember folks this board is read by many, keep the tone of your comments neutral (another words don't bash them) -J

The guy lives in Beacon on Rt 9D near the Dia Center. One will really never know why he did this. If his parents were so bad they didn't know or were not capable of opening a car door then they probably should have been in a nursing home.

11 pm news said everyone has been rescued & the car is also back in service
